Bandogges?

Bear, I don't have a lot of experience with Amstaff either, but my English Stafford is very high maintenance. Needs constant attention, is a little busy body, very energetic, NOT a guard dog at all. She thinks everyone is a friend and would gladly welcome a stranger into our home etc...

Angus is the polar opposite! I think he got the mastiff personality, too. He is super low maintenance, but very loving and affectionate. Doesn't need constant attention, very laid back, but is very protective.

Wes is very similar! Very chilled out, happy to just lay around most of the day. He is very protective of us and seems to know who is a threat and who's not. Welcomes all of our friends(even if they haven't been here before) but heaven forbid someone strange tries to come in!! We had a guy come through our backyard(he was fixing our back fence), we had told him not to come past the boundary wire for wes collar but he did...I heard Wes growling and when I got outside he grabbed this guy by the arm and didn't let him go until I got there and said it was ok. Thankfully the guy was understanding and respected wes for doing his job...he left no marks on his arm(just held him till I got there) and just about licked this guy to death afterwards!! There are also a couple of delivery drivers that he won't let out of the car, makes me think there is something off about them!!!

Same! We had some people working on the property. They had shown up without warning and Angus went ballistic. He was circling them growling and barking, which I was impressed with. Had they been at our place to rob it or something, they wouldn't have made it to the front door.

I bring Angus to work with me. I work with recovering addicts, people coming out of prison and people with mental illnesses. It is very interesting to see who Angus likes and who he avoids. There are people who he's been around for a year or more and he still turns away if they try to pet him. He'd never harm any of them unless they were attacking me, but he does avoid certain people and walk waaaay around them so that they can't touch him and I trust his judgment. One night, I went into the backyard at work to find Angus barking at one of the residents. More of just an alerting bark, but it was later found out that the individual he had singled out had been using meth.

Wow, thats great that you can take him to work with you!! What a good dog!! Wes is amazing with our kids too...one day our son was on the tray of a ute(truck?) and everytime he went near the edge Wes walked in front of him and pushed him back to the middle, I wish I had caught it on film!! So sad to think of him getting older, I just hope our pup learns from him!!!

And sorry to the OP, think we have hijacked your thread!! Wes isn't used as a hunting dog but if anything wild comes onto our property, look out!! That makes him a Bandogge right?! ;-)

I was really starting to think Hamlet was in fact a pit x boxer, but now that he's 65# at 11 months I'm a bit dubious that it's boxer. I think he is in fact a mastiff cross, just don't know what and how much. But he sure is cute.

Tamara, your dog is also likely to be bigger than Amstaff crosses because American bulldogs are bigger than Amstaffs.

Hello, I am bandog breeder from Croatia, I have few types, but by apperance my favourite is Swinford type of bandog, I have internet site so you can see my dogs also there. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cro-Bandog/436575283162850 But aside Swinfords I will have one special mix in spring, real guardian Mix, pressa canario x Caucasian shepherd, I have prepared a lot to find right male and female (presa old type, not the exibition type with black marks on the head, and male the ancestor of real working sheep dogs) As presa is lihter she will shrink massive Caucassian to a 55-65 kg dog and his long hear will shorten so the mix will provid ereal guarding dogs who are easier to train than Caucassian, they are faster, I will put the pictures when little ones come. Who evere is interested I am here for questions. This is the picture of my Swinford male Had
