Canine vs Human version or DIY ideas

We'll be working on it soon enough!

B and I are still debating stroller models. :D

There is an intructable doing this, but we'll be doing it differently. The one he did is a bit makeshift in my opinion, but some great general ideas: DIY dog pull cart made out of a folding bicycle trailer.

He uses a baby bike trailer. I want three wheels to avoid unnecessary stress on the back. Both of these human products are built to have good suspension, though, to keep the child safe at higher speeds and going off curbs. My cousin has both of these products for her baby... and her asthmatic pug. :p

ahahah the dog is pooped! First time I've seen this, cool!

To be honest... I actually linked a different one than what I'd looked at previously, and now I can't find the other one. This one is much better made, in my opinion, and I'll be referring back to this for ideas! Yeah, that is one happy, tired dog.

We really just need something that both Hamlet and my MIL's crazy mutt can pull for stimulation. I think when Hamlet is older he will have some serious capability, but for now I'm concerned for both of them having as little stress as possible on their joints. Lavinia is about seven, and Ham is so young.

Loving this agility stuff, by the way. B wants to make a little course for the chi using mostly PVC.

My friend owns a tire shop nearby, and they have a "bargain rack" selling $5 tires (in case you REALLY need a spare, I guess!). If anyone has ideas for how to make use of one as a toy, let me know!

Build a spring pole and dangle a tire off of it?

At our old house, we built Thalia a spring pole. We put a tire on it, but she wasn't interested. She was more interested in swinging around on her rope toys. The spring pole we built cost about $70.

Those dogs are *awesome*!

Maybe if I rigged it up as a spring pole and put some kibble in it that could be knocked out, he would go for it, and it would aid in teaching him some dock diving skills, because goodness do I want to do that someday. I'm thinking for a spring pole I would ideally want the rope used for rock climbing, which has an elastic quality that allows for give? I know a shop reasonably close that will sell any length of that rope. And then I could just use the same knot used in climbing, a figure-eight topped by a double fisherman's knot.

Just seems like a waste to have giant rubber toys at my disposal and not try something! :)

Note to future DIY readers, if you get this type of rope, replace it every 6-12 months, or when its elasticity is almost gone and it feels slack, or when the fabric exterior begins to show signs of serious wear. It can still be used for other things, but it's not considered safe for serious weight bearing. You could repurpose it for a flirt pole!
