Cesar Millan: Opinion

I see remarks here and there about the guy, his theory.. beliefs etc.

I'm curious what others think of him and his practices? Why you agree or disagree?

Disagree. I watch his shows for the entertainment value.

Not a fan. Some of his individual techniques work well with some dogs. Some of his techniques are incredibly stupid and its taken some fancy camera work on a couple of occasions to not show him getting bit on TV because of them . I do have to admit that he appears to be aware that he doesn't know everything as he has, in several episodes, brought in specialists to help with specific dogs such as his episode on wolfdogs.

My problem with him is he states on thing and does another. If you YouTube his name you can come up with some of the meanest videos he has done
They use to have one until they removed it of him choking out a wolf hybrid, he was stating to the owner the dog is trying to attack me but in fact you could clearly see the dog turning blue and the dog trying to save its own life.
Another a lady having problems with her GSD attacking her cat, CM out a shock collar on the dog, the dog is under the owners chair and CM is saying every time the dog moves it is wanting to get your cat but in fact the dog was being shocked by him as you can clearly see the remote in his hand.
He has been put down on video by other trainers who know stuff to his face.
The dogs he has in the beginning of his TV program are the ONLY dogs he can put together.

I wish the show showed how the hole process takes bc it's not all lime lights on some dogs. He makes it all beauty and perfect.

Ill see if I can find some of the videos I speak about bc I put them on one of the Pit Bull boards I'm a mod on.

I remember watching one episode where he was working with a gold lab. He had his hand out in front of the dog...who was already food protective (I think) and the dog bit the shit out of him...I felt like he deserved that a little bit because of how arrogant he was. LOL. I've tried that "sshhh" and touch the side of my dog technique for nipping/barking while walking on the leash and it never works...but I'm no CM. haha

This man does not impress me but insult the training world.

I will say it now and say it again it is ALL ABOUT TEACHING YOUR DOG FOCUS ONCE THEY HAVE THAT YOU CAN DO ANYTHING!!!

He clearly throat jabs the dog as soon as it reacts to him. He was pumping this dogs aggression to get a better video. When the dog got his hand you see him kick the dog which is pretty much a natural response. He deserved the bites he got.

That man no more knows how to read a dog then that dog knew to trust him.
He challenged that dog and got what he deserved and couldn't face he was wrong

I'm so with Deb on this guy. I call him the dog kicker and I saw the video of him choking out the wolf dog. He was walking the dog past another dog and since it didn't react to the dog he kicked it in the soft zone behind the ribs well the wolf got pissed about it and went after the Kicker and he had to dangle the dog on a choker until it lost it's ability to move, he continued to choke it until it was fully on the ground gasping for air and the tongue was swollen. The Wolf also peed on the ground as it lost control of it's bodily functions. I want to kick Ceasar in his soft zone and slip lead him blue and see if he pisses himself too.

I can't say I agree with everything he does, nor that I'm impressed per say. However I do think he has some good points in&around theory, all I know of him is TV & youtube vids.

Just like any other instant "star" they can be made out to be the best or the worst person in the world. I can also see some of his teaching creating a competitive market for other trainers which would get backlash from a revenue generation stand point.

I thought this interview (below) was pretty good. None the less good points from everyone. Keep em' coming.

That video was making the rounds of the dog blogger community not that long ago. Basically pointing out little CM apparently knows about dog body language, he even states, after getting bitten "didn't see that coming" which makes every one of the reviewers want to cry since the poor dog gave over a minutes worth of warning in the form of a variety of signals.....

Raechiemay, he was not pushing his hand in more, when a dogs bites you, you get pulled around and he was fighting back. If he would have submitted to the bite the dog would have probably let go a little fast.
When we decoy for dog bites we are first taught to stop and submit to the winning of the dog. And we are taught to fight to keep the desire to bite alive.

Of that makes sense to ya
