Clingy

Just as the title says.....are Fila's a "clingy" breed?

My danes are about the clingy dogs I know. Its not enough for them to be in the same room they literally have to touch a part of "me." ( chair, couch, etc) Also if I go outside after I bring the dogs in I can hear them whining and pacing, looking for me.

Dunno about a fila but my dog follows my girlfreind around like she has a steak suit on, the friggin dog loves her.

My last boxer Max followed me EVERYWHERE!! You know, like the song "every step you take, every move you make" that was him! And, he always, always had to be "touching" me if it were physically possible, and always with his "paw" His paw always had to be on me...I actually miss that about him :( Bella is much more reserved; she will follow me from room to room, and settle wherever I am, but she doesn't usually have to be touching me....unless she wants a belly rub of course :)

Lol I would say definitely I can't go to the washroom without the pup jumping at the door, trying to force his way in. He'll follow me where ever I go no matter how sleepy or tired he is.

Yes, they are. It is cute when they are pups but you tend to trip over them all the time cause they are right on you and they have to lay on you all day long... once you get one try to nip that in the butt because it isnt cute when they are full grown and you cant get them off of you. There were several times that my kids were literally trapped under a Fila and couldnt get out... btw trim their nails, they are like freaking horse hooves! I recommend the high speed cordless dremmel...melts their hooves away in seconds.

How about when your in dress clothes to go to an event and give you a wet goodbye rub because they just got a drink. At times its annoying. Juan do you let your Filas on the couch?

I"m a stickler when it comes to grooming especially the "hooves" lol. I trim Stone's almost weekly, I like short nails.

I don't think its cute as pups or adults, I curse enough tripping over the damn cat. A few days ago I ran over Stone's tail because he was sitting so close to my computer chair. I'm not sure if I want another breed that clingy, as I worry about separation issues. Stone had some acute separation anxiety but I put a stop to that.

Your average Fila is definetely gonna be more "clingy" than your average Dane.

Kona will come in bout any room we are in and if she aint getting love, she lays in the door way facing out. Guess so no one can get in. In the bethroom she comes in for a rub, then maybe lay down. When I'm outside she will lay in the sliding glass door behind the curtain so she can see it all. If out front she is in the bay window.you lay on the floor she will stand over you. She dont climb on us to often cause we stop her. I swear she can lean sideways to. No matter how much you scoot she can still lean her ass on you.

Our dogs have 3 sofas in the house and one going in the shop. We use them as well

They are annoyingly clingy but I havent heard of an issue with seperation often with them. A stable one just lays like a rug until you get home. you got other dogs so that really shouldnt be an issue regardless...they are pretty clingy with anything that they consider theirs and is alive..ie, my other dogs and my freaking 10 yr old rabbit that seems intent on out living me.

Both of ours are very clingy but in very different ways. Cane follows me everywhere. He will wake up from a dead sleep anytime I leave the room, come find me and lay back down with in a foot or two. I can't escape him but he is not touchy, feely either. Right now I'm sitting on the bed and he is laying across the end of it. Not touching. At night he usually sleeps on the floor beside the bed. His choice not mine.

Ziva on the other hand can't get close enough to you. At night she has got to have her head touching some part of Derba's body, leaving her ass touching some part of my body. However during the day she will get up on the bed and stay there. She doesn't seem to have to follow me room to room. She knows I will come back and I honestly believes she knows Cane will watch over me. So there is no need for her to get her Diva ass up.

To Cane's credit he does give the best kisses. The sweetest little nose plant on the chin.

Dogman you, chuck and AB mention having another canine in the household what about if I only had just the one dog? How would a Fila be then?

I was kind of concerned how Stone would be after Thor left but other than a few times he never really showed much of a difference. From what I could tell, but I don't know how he was when I left for work.

I know some that are yard dogs and they are by themselves back there, some are "single dog homes" and dont have an issue either... I have gone on trips with a single fila at a time and I leave them loose in the hotel while I go out...sometimes that is 6 hrs or more. when I come back they are always just sleeping on the bed.

we have taken just kona on trips and leave her while we are out riding. She whines for a bit then lays down. Long as she dont hear us outside she will stay that way

I don't know about a Fila but Ruger is always so close that I think he breaths my air before I get the chance. He takes every step with me and like AB's Cane, he gets up from a dead sleep and follows me anywhere I go. He is ALWAYS touching me. If he lays at my feet, he has to lay ON one. If he is in the bed, he will be touching in some way. He has his moments where he wants to be TOO close and lay ON me and I don't let him but as I type this, my right elbow is pinned to the bed by 170+ pounds of dog who is loudly snoring. LOL
