Clingy

I meant to mention that Ruger has no issues with being home alone, though...He just gets in the bed and sleeps until you come back. :) No anxiety or anything.

Yes, they are. It is cute when they are pups but you tend to trip over them all the time cause they are right on you and they have to lay on you all day long... once you get one try to nip that in the butt because it isnt cute when they are full grown and you cant get them off of you. There were several times that my kids were literally trapped under a Fila and couldnt get out... btw trim their nails, they are like freaking horse hooves! I recommend the high speed cordless dremmel...melts their hooves away in seconds.
lol i know getting a full grown fila to get off isn't going to be very fun I'm so getting the dremmel. Is it tricky to use? any tips?

not tricky at all... tips? turn the bastard up to full speed use the med-fine sand paper wheel that it comes with and let the dust fly! (seriously though, there is some dust from that and you should do it on the floor not on fabric couches) if you are the artistic type go ahead and make them pretty by grinding them into a desired smoothness and shape. it is a little expensive but you can use it for other things around the house (at least that is what i told the wife).

Presas can be very clingy.
My old Male Drago would whine at dog events so bad I was asked to take him out of the building bc it was terrible, the judge said we can wait for you to walk to your vehicle and get him lmao ..
Xade is very clingy now that I am hurt and I don't believe it will change now but she does not whine just has to be near me and touching all the time

Thanks dogman appreciate the help. Now honestly any dog that is bred to work with man will be clingy to some extent, that being said my german shepherd is the extreme of clinginess. if i am going on a walk with the family he refuses to let anyone else grab his leash and walk him, for some reason it has to be me. nobody can take him away form me he sticks with me like a glue if we are outside the house. it used to be that he would try to come with me where ever i go but i taught him the command "you're not coming" so now he backs off."

Both of mine are clingy. When I come home from work they act as if my wife hasn't petted them all day and, for the next 10 minutes or so, are all over me. For that time I can't go anywhere without one or both of them touching me or laying on me.

I am surprised at how well they have learned that I am ok with them putting their paws on my chest, my wife (petite) is not. Also interesting in that the female (she is 3 years old) knew when my wife had hip surgery and was ever so gentle when getting on the couch. The male (he is not quite a year) has a lot to learn in gentleness.

Sleeping with them is like sleeping with an electric blanket; they put off a lot of heat.

From your posts I read a lot about the fila breed devotion to their owner, while that's great I hope its not an obsession. Bad enough with Stone right now.

I don't think it's an obsession for example if I have to quickly go to a store, like in and out, I leave trigger in the car; he tries to come with me, but I push him back in and lock the doors. Then he understands that he is not allowed to come, so he just sits down and patiently waits for me. Whereas my gsd you couldn't leave alone, as soon as you lock the doors and try to walk away he'd start barking his brain out, to the point that the car alarm would go off.

I've thought about this particular scene many times...i don't think I'd ever leave my Fila in the car...there is just too much that could go wrong...everything is just multiplied. I am a Presa owner. My first one, I took her everywhere. It was always so funny when I'd return to the car, she'd be sitting in the drivers seat...every time. I sure do miss that girl.

as long as the weather is fine,my Filas(all dogs)have gone everywhere with me.I have never had any issues with Filas in the car, even the nasty one.Yes,some have barked and hit the window.but,in general, unless someone is trying to get into my car the dog(s) should just watch.growling is fine also, but crazy dog is not what a Fila is about!

My CC is a velcro dog with me. Follows me every where and wants to be with me. More so than my husband. If my husband tries to take him for a walk and I stay in the house, he won't go. He will pee and run straight back to the door. I think it hurts hubby's feelings, but he would never say that.

Several months ago I was stopped by the highway patrol. I pulled over, rolled down the window and the dogs went nuts to the point where I asked permission to step outside so we could hear. I did and then handed the trooper my registration, insurance and DL. He let me off with a warning and noted, as he laughed, that back window of my Expedition was bulging from being hit by (I assume) my male.

We have an English Bulldog that has to be touching one of us at all times. Either on the ottaman on your feet,or standing by the chair so my hand can touch her back, or sitting in the recliner with me. She is weak nerved and skittish as hell. We can move a vacuum cleaner in the room ans when she comes thru it freaks her out and she will go the other way around. She is a basket case. But she is a resuce and I don't think her previous owner was an outstanding individual. It may be genetic as well but I think it is a lot of enviromental as well. S

hahaha, many moons ago,I was pulled over in my old Jeep Wrangler.it was summer about midnight,so no doors or top on it. I had my 2 Filas with me,their leashes we tied to the side roll bar and they were laying down one on the floor and one in the backseat.let me just say,the officer came up rather quickly obviously not seeing the dogs.they heard him and decided to get up about the time he got to the back of the wheel well! to say it was hilarious is an understatement!!!I seriously believe he had to go change his pants.needless to say,he ran back to his car and was shrieking for me to just go the hell on! I didn't argue and still have no idea why I was pulled over!

Just as the title says.....are Fila's a "clingy" breed?

My danes are about the clingy dogs I know. Its not enough for them to be in the same room they literally have to touch a part of "me." ( chair, couch, etc) Also if I go outside after I bring the dogs in I can hear them whining and pacing, looking for me.

Yes but you could think of it as a footwarmer lol
