  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Cruiser has hit 200lbs

I'll have to check back through my vet records, I think right at 160. My vet is a long time friend who had her wonderful staff help me with socialization. Every week from 9 weeks on we made visits to her office for weigh ins and the staff played with him and helped with training. Cruiser loves going to the vet because they make it so fun!

Yes! I love that big, soft, full muzzle! His is developing but won't be fully in until about age 3. I love their big smoochy faces!

His weight gain has finally began to taper off, we are now maintaining. His muzzle will continue to fill and he will still thicken a bit. He eats 2 cups of Authority Grain Free Chicken & Rice dry w/2 tablespoons of yogurt in the morning, 2 cups w/1/2 Authority wet @ lunch, and 2 cups with mixed veggies and some meat, usually lightly browned bits of round steak in the evening. His fav treat in the morning as I am leaving for work is 2 tbs of low fat creamy pb smeared in a cup. He gets treats throughout the day from my hubby, Blue Dog Barkery cookies, bits of fruit and of course a big bite of my hubby's pb & strawberry jam sandwich at lunch!

We began on Innova until 3 months, then on to TOW until 12 months, now Authority. He has grown beautifully with just a few issues along the way in his diet. Cruiser is extremely sensitive to eggs and egg products!

Dozers Dad, he weighed 169 @ 8 months. I had to call my vet to check the records, I could not find mine!

Wow I thought my guy was big but hes only 2 weeks younger than your guy and he is weighing in at around 180. He also had big parents and I am expecting him to probably settle in at the 250 mark give or take. Not looking forward to when the poor guy has troubles moving around.

Whoa! 250 is something I hope we never reach! My last em boy @190 was difficult as a senior, not so much while able to get around without assistance, but later when he was not feeling so well. I did learn that I need to have a two man stretcher in storage for times when my boys need to be carried, esp in emergencies. Taking care of a 200lb dog with disabilities is a whole different ballgame then with a smaller dog! You take for granted that they will always be healthy. I am trying to maintain Cruisers weight without gaining too much more and it is difficult, this boy will eat anything that is not tied down that is legal for him to consume!

your boy is huge we have a 7 month old EM who is getting big maybe 140 pounds and when he doesn't what to do something it is like moving a bag of cement. We live part time in the summers on a island and I was just thinking to myself the other day as I was lifting Gus into the boat how am I going to do this next summer after another year of growing.

Took Lincoln for a walk downtown last night and just like most walks, I got 2-3 people tell me he's the biggest mastiff they've ever seen, or they ask if he's very large for the breed.

I just laugh now and think about threads like this and Jadotha's and M&M's and Ruger's and how I've actually got a mini mastiff. :)

Lol. No kidding, same story here. I was walking Gunny the other day and one of the neighbors down the street said "I thought it was against the deed restrictions to own horses here". I laughed and thought to myself "He's really not that big for an EM". About a month ago, he weighed 140 lbs. @ 15 months. I do find myself often forgetting that he's only 16 months old though.

Any Mastiff over 120lbs is big.... Woogie is a handsome Big Head...... Lily will probably be 140lbs & that's fine with me but she might get bigger, her parents where young & not at their full bigness yet.....

When we go out, people just flock to him wanting to pet and some just stare. He is pretty good with strangers, sits and waits to be introduced (that took a load of work). I ask people to hold out their hand and allow him to sniff and touch them first, no lunging for his head! Little kids attack him like a big fur covered mountain and he loves it! Our main issue with strangers is that they expect him to be aggressive because of his size and they automatically get uncomfortable and defensive. He doesn't understand aggression at all and hasn't experienced it and I hope he never does! His playmate, Diesel, is a neo mastiff that is about 170lbs, all slobber & kisses. It is a fun day to watch when they begin crashing and pawing in play! Lily @ 140 would be a nice size, female mastiffs are beautiful at that weight!

Rob, Cruiser is beautiful and a HUGE boy next to Ruger, haha. Best of all sounds like he has an amazing temperament!

I get the same thing with Stone. Then when they see the other dane who is REALLY TALL, they are really taken for a ride, haha. Stone is on the "small" side but I suspect he will be a stocky dog. Mason on the other hand, will be a tall boy. It will be interesting to see how they grow and fill out.

PS beat the speed test for editing HAHHA!!!!

I keep forgetting that Kryten is a big boy, although not as big as some of these guys...yet, until I see another giant breed dog. When you watch someone that is holding onto a leash that has an EM on the other end have their jaw drop open and eventually say 'Now that's a huge dog' followed by 'OMG he's not full grown yet is he?' it tends to leave an impression.

Loki was around 200 lbs at that age too. He's only 210-220 now and will soon be 3 years old. I often worry about him when he's older too with helping him get around. He's virtually impossible to move in bed! AND he knows it. hehe I find out what his weight is in about 2 weeks when he goes to the vet for his shots.

It's impossible to go anywhere with Loki with out drawing a crowd too. With the same stupid questions every time too! How much does he weight like 100 lbs? How much does he eat? Do you have a saddle for him?

As a side note though, Loki got sick last year and dropped to 180 lbs from a swollen salivary gland. Scared me to death too! Woke up one day and he had a lump the size of a large grapefruit on the side of his neck. He just didn't want to eat much when he was on the antibiotics during that and took him awhile to get back to 200 lbs. 6 months ago he was 206 or something and he's been filling out still so I'm sure he's 210-220 now. BUT, I've been wrong before too. :)
