OMG I am so, so very sorrry!! We feed our two dogs Natures domain. My Saint threw up last night and my EM has bad diarrhea right now. Vet thinks it's campylobacter again but now I am not so sure!!!

I'm very sorry for your loss. Please do post the test results. Is there any way you can scan them directly? It might be helpful to have an official type document if anyone has a problem and wants to share with their vet.

I'm working on the road right now, when I get home I can pick up the paperwork and post.

so I had a phone conversation with the testing facility and they don't want to be published with this claim, just to keep the public from bombarding them with testing requests. As of now it considered a personal favour. They are disclosing all their testing and results to the CFIA and I will meet with them Monday to receive an official report.

Thanks, I'm intrested in Earthborn but it is made by Midwestern Pet Foods, Inc. Do you know of any bad history on them?

I do not believe there has been recalls or issues with Earthborn Holistics.

I switched my two over to ACANA today. The only ingredient that's sourced elsewhere is the lamb, which is from New Zealand and tested rigorously. I felt good leaving with it. Orijen (Same company) was my other choice.

It even states-Earthborn Holistic seems to have a perfect reputation. The company hasn't had to recall its food yet - and many consumers turned to the food after the recent wave of dog food contamination.

I admit, I'm not convinced of the word Meal? as in turkey meal, chicken meal, whitefish meal,

cuz, I look forward to any report once it happens, this needs to be out there for us.

Today I was told the results came back 100% positive for salmonella poisoning. The research center came to the house and picked up the bag of dog food and everything it was in contact with due to contamination. We are going to send them a diarrhea sample from the night everything happened.
I still have to talk to the CFIA but was told that not much can be done because in Canada dog/Cat food isn't regulated meaning it doesn't go through any testing. They informed me that they have even seen cases where the salmonella was detected in the states so company will opt to sell it here instead due to the lack of inspection.
I was told the best outcome from this would be direct proof to have the foods become regulated here. There thoughts are that people do sometimes fill bowls by hand or it is possible for toddlers to get into food bowls.

I am still going to speak to a lawyer but achieving anything is looking slim. I will still post the results when I have them but have also been told it could take awhile coming from the government.

All I can hope or is it helps someone down the road because as it sits right now it seems everything is dragging the situation out and not letting the family put things to rest, every phone call or new piece of info seems to kick the wife and kids back through their emotions...

Cuz, I am sorry for your families loss. I did not know that dog food was not regulated in Canada (I am in the States). Hopefully this will assist in changing the laws there, I know this will not bring your pup back but it could save another.

Even with the food not being regulated, I would contact a lawyer. If that failed to work I would start a campaign to ensure everyone around knew what these companies and politicians allowed to happen, and their failure to ensure it does not happen again.

I have been trying to spread the word but people want proof. I don't require it. This post and consumer reports was enough to convince me. From now on, only locally made food.

I have been spreading what I've found only to groups like this to help people that may fall into the same situation. As soon as I get my hands on the proper documentation I'll be posting it everywhere the internet reaches!
There's to many people that will refuse to believe anything with out the proper proof as stated above until it happens to them....

I've shared it to mastiff centeral on facebook for to be shared around. I will be off work and headed home Friday. My first stop is a lawyer, second is Costco where it was purchased then from there the Kirkland rep
