I've been reading this I guess I'd like to say that I personally don't over socialize Kronos I pick and choose carefully who he is allowed to be pet by, normally older or younger people....Athena was different she was extremely socialized and she is still evil as sin ..but...that's a fila I suppose.... do I think you can over socialize a dog that has "it"....not necessarily but I think you can confuse them. ..its not so clear cut but I wouldn't let everyone pet Kronos and the protection sports are PSA, KNPV, and Schutzund .....basically American, Dutch, German

First let me break down what you posted.
Getting into decoy great if the club is willing to train you
Your breed well I have seen your breed do Schutzhund
Is your breed the best for it, no but neither are the Presa and I work mine :)
Not sure what you mean by level 1 - 2? Could you elaborate please?
The breeds of choice for protection work is German Shepherds, Malinois, Dutch Schepherds.
The protection sports out there in the USA
- US Schutzhund
- DVG German Schutzhund Organization
- Protection Sports Association
- Mondio Ring
- French Ring
- National Working Dog Association
- Service Dogs of America
Overseas
- Schutzhund (don't know the names)
- DVG German Schutzhund Organization
- Mondio Ring
- French Ring
- KNVP
- NVBK

Geis I have'nt done much in the ways of looking into it. Just youtube videos, listening to others, and my own (sometimes way off base) logic. I've only seen a handfull of vids of super trained Fila's. I do admire what I've seen though. Even if a dog was all show and play, for them to act on a field like some vids I've watched is simply amazing. If you got some good links or vids, I would love to check em out

Where do you get your knowledge?
Many ABDs do Mondio
There has been Presas that did French Ring

TO EXPLAIN THE SPORTS
Mondio is much easier on Mollossars Breeds bc of the Palisade (the wall) it is a straight up wall in the front side & have a 1/2 A-Frame on the other.
French Ring the dog has to be able to launch the front side of the wall and come down the straight up other side.
Overseas the wall hurts many dogs even Malinois (the main breed in FR) they do not care and they go get another dog.

Tiger you also forgot the others I listed as well where MANY Mollossars succeed at.
NWDA was created by ABD folks who have been competing in the Shepherd world sports. So they created a awesome sport for our breeds to be able to do.
PSA unless you raise your dog to not be afraid of anything, it is able to have extreme stress put on the dog, can go into defense quickly (w/o going into fear aggression) you WILL NOT PASS it is a hard sport bc of the way they designed it.
I can state this if you own a EM, NEO (extreme larger breeds in the Mollossars World) you won't be competing in any of these sports but maybe
- Schutzhund
- NWDA
- SDA
Bc of size. Please NO one take that as I am putting your breed down. I have even tried to explain in the Presa World when you make a larger out of standards Presa they do not have the agility, mobility and endurance to compete in some of the sports. Again no I am not dissing anyone's breeds.
Many many of our beloved breeds have done amazing things where other breed folks said we couldn't and look at our breeds.

Hey Deb do you have any videos or pictures of mollosers doing Mondio? I would like to see. :)

My breed gets slammed too after all many are too soft, lol. Oh well.

I will ask friends that I know has done them to be able to post a few.

I will also see about posting a GD who is the biggest weight puller for your breed and agility dog ..

Let me see what I can do :)

Thanks that's great can't wait to see them. I think Thor would have been been a decent puller. Stone is going to do something he's got way too much energy not too, lol. If you met him you would see why, his bite is more correct than Thor's also, boy he's know how to use that mouth. When I move and get settled I'm gonig to have the decoy come out and work with him.

No, its fine. :) I just thought you should know. Yeah, he was my buddy kind of hard not to lol. I even find myself calling my other dane Thor, instead of Stone.

I try to ride a nice middle of the road with Hank. He's well socialized with our extended pack. This includes children and small animals. I don't want a stranger handling him necessarily but his instincts serve him well. I want someone to be able to approach my porch with no issues, that being said, if they cross the threshold without permission Hank's gonna get himself a mouthful of their A@#.

ABD's are not mastiff.....and presa compete very seldom and make it anywhere even fewer....but there aren't DDB's and BM's out there competing in mondio ring... just need to say that so people who read and dont know dont go out and get one thinking it can be a schutzund 3 dog... because it cant....

No they are not but they are a big breed doing thinks no one else dares too. Yep it is few far between but FOLKS LIKE ME. Will have Presas doing things in these sports. I was told my male Presa couldn't do Agility at the age of 7 and well he did.

DDBs & BMs well hmm can't speak for those owners BC I don't have the breed.

Anything can be done with the will and confidence in oneself and the breed they love. I have seen your kind come along and tell people NOPE NOPE CAN'T .. But yet they still got shown.

SchH really you say breeds can't get to the higher levels why? Have you read the rules? You know the walls gone right, only the A-frame & jump left and let me say of the dog can pass the level one it can pass the other levels BC the only things that change are: the tracking formation, dumbbell size & the amount of blinds it has to run.

It's a shame you think this way!!

Lol okay but if you get your presa high in any of the prot sports I will apologise but its not gonna happen....I could go into this but I don't have the energy ..your going to shoot me 3 or 4 links of protection sport presa and there out there but 9/10 it don't work you can agility any dog apples and oranges....as a WHOLE mastiff FAIL at PROTECTION sports...period....I know the rules I know the regs talked to many part of a lot of other forums just letting YOU know don't escalate your hopes to the point you get let down....mastiffs don't do well in the sports ...prey drive and too much defense have everything to do with it and that balance is inherent as well as key to a sport dog....

I don't know much about dog sports but are there any sports that cater specifically towards mastiffs. Not saying mastiffs can't do "herder sports" but many of them weren't bred for that..

Unfortunately not really not that I can think of not towards everyday mastiff anyway the average BM sitting on someones couch won't probably be doing to well in the sport department..someone should make one...but then again what would the dog be doing....lol
