I'm on a few other forums but just ran across this one today. Thought I'd say hello. Seems like a more active forum than others I've seen.

Over 300lbs of furry kids... Loki the english mastiff @ 210+ lbs & Sophie the lab @ 90lbs. Loki will be 3 in September and Sophie will be 3.5 then. They're only 6 months apart in age, and inseparable.

Thanks all! I was never a big fan of brindle but then I got Loki. Now I'm a big fan of brindle :)

I got Loki while I was saving up to buy a puppy from a breeder. A friend ran across someone that supposedly couldn't keep him because he costs too much on craigslist. Took a long 2 hour drive out to see him. They didn't have anything but a tiny blurry picture of him. All I knew was he was little over 4 months old and an english mastiff. Was enough to peek my interest and go see for myself.

I got there to see his lazy little butt with their roommate's St. Bernard bouncing all around him. He was pretty much just a little potato and has stayed one ever since. He's a big lazy boy now. So I decided yes in a few minutes and wrote a check. Was one of those... seems neglected kinda situations and I figured with Sophie's endless energy they'd offset each other just fine. Was kind of a rash decision but it worked out just fine in the long run.

Quickly I noticed he had worms. Ended up he had every type of worm but heartworms in him. I called them to try and get his vet info they kept promising to send and to warn them about the worms since there was another dog in the house. A few weeks later when I still couldn't get them to send my vet his information I end up finding out they never took him to a vet once. The wife said she was too broke after paying over $2,000 for him to take him to a vet. My vet had already said it wouldn't hurt him if he had already had one round of puppy shots to just start over, so that ended up being a really good call on her part. To this day I still don't have his papers and I'm guessing the breeder made them sign a contract not to resell him and why they won't give me his papers. Who knows though. I'd just like to have them to have them.

Over a year ago the wife found me on facebook and friended me. Me looking at her timeline realized she had to have found out she was pregnant around the time I got Loki. I'm guessing that's the real reason they wanted to get rid of him. There loss!

Loki had one testical that didn't drop, he has a stray eye, he's allergic to grass and other fun things, but he's my little snuggly baby. Sophie is my little clown & smarty pants, but not a big snuggler. In the end, they really do balance each other out, and I'm so glad I found him. I'm sure his life is better off as is mine.
