I was told she is purebred, but i don't think so

500.jpgPlease check the picture above. i really don't care if she isn't a purebred, however I was kind of curious what else she could be mixed with. She has finer hair than a purebred would. She is tall like one and at 4 months weighs 40 lbs. i know she has some of the breed in her. Any opinions as to what else she could be mixed with? Does she look like a pure bred to you?

What breed is she suposed to be? English Mastiff?

The photo is kind of small. 40lbs at 4 months old is on the smaller side but still normal and she is female. It is possible.... its hard to tell in the picture.

Yes she is supposed to be english mastiff. she doesn't have as many wrinkles in the face, has finer hair, has thinner bones.503.jpg

Shes a beauty! But I have to agree she doesnt look pure breed, but I wouldnt have the slightest idea of what she is mixed with. Smooth coat makes me think of a pitbull, but there are plenty of smooth coated dogs.

She's adorable, whatever she is. Could be just about anything at this point. Where did you get here, if you don't mind?

She's beautiful!!!! She could be a pure bred, but the word "pure bred" can have many meanings!!!!

thanks guys. I honestly got her through craigslist (local advertisement) Lady told me she was pure bred and at 9 weeks it was hard to tell or not, but as she gets older, i believe different. The father is definately pure bred. he was large and brindle colored. (lease he was supposedly the father. The lady told me she had picked out Bella out of the litter and decided she didn't want her so i adopted her. i have not seen the mother. I am just boggled as to why someone would lie. She was very very inexpensive and we love her regardless. Curiosity has me guessing :)

Thank you! Actually Moose is a dogue de bordeaux, but somewhat similar size wise to a bullmastiff :D

She looks really pretty, but ridgeback mix sprung to mind to me, keep an eye on leg length. Have a look at ridgeback puppies on google images and see what you think.

ridgeback sounds pretty good to me too...does this dog have an undershot jaw? could be a bully breed in there as well, not really sure. should become more apparent as she matures.

hmm those are some pretty good guesses...i can definately see maybe ridgeback or dane mix but who knows. As far s the undershot jaw goes, i don't believe she does, but then again i guess i never really noticed. legs are especially long on her. She was standing next to a purebred and was a lot taller than the mastiff, but much skinnier with smaller paws and thinner bone structure. I guess since her dad was male mastiff in order for him to breed i would assume the mother at least had to be a large breed as well?

wait...you actually saw them? I remember a long time ago a male chihuahua had his way with a female rottweiler as she lay unsupervised, exhausted and tied to a tree in front of the owners home...this was in the news years ago but if I remember correctly the rott's owner said the vet told him it would be dangerous for her to have the pups and he got the dog an abortion...or did he? lol.

Tangent to the rescue! According to a 1938 experiment done with AI in horses offspring size is strongly affected by the size of the mother and her ability to actually give birth. They performed Shire-Shetland crosses (each way), and yes, a Shetland mum can produce a half-Shire foal. Chihuahua-Rotti makes me wonder about the circumstances, but it's definitely possible.

And since I try not to present information without a source:
