Looking for long-established breeders of DDB

I have no advice to offer but it sounds like you've found a great match as far as breeders go. I noticed you lived in Dallas. I'm in the Fort Worth area & a couple of the members in the DFW area get together for play dates occasionally. Musicdeb has a DDB named Titan & he's such a love! We'd love to have you join us once you get your new family member for socialization if you're interested. The other members in the group, myself included, have EMs.

Chinabelle;
I am already signed up for a male. I wouldn't consider other options at this point and will be willing to wait for when she decides to put another litter together. I will let every know when my new family addition gets to the house you can bet on that.
Someone in the Dallas area is getting a puppy from this last litter that she put together. I didn't ask who as they have not received the Dogue yet. I love what she is doing holding them until 9 weeks once they have safely received all of their shots and you are not gambling on an unexperienced clinc to time everything right to prevent any issues (which apparently happen more often then we have been told).

Gregory 5;
I do not see where you are from. Would love to see your new family member. You are most fortunate as her line is as solid (standard/temperment/health) as the breed currently has to offer. Bonnie is continuously looking to improve this breed at every turn

so I am sure we will be hearing a lot more good things from her efforts.

Hi Saibeer, I'm actually from New York and will be driving up to get Vader in two weeks. I'll definitely post lots of pictures and updates when he is home.

When the pup gets here he will be 9 weeks and need socialization sometime in June (we think and God willing). Curious as to what "Good Canine Citizen" training classes you found and what you thought about the options. Now that I have the Dogue lined up I will be looking for classes as I nolonger do any training myself as I think the socialization is more important than what they learn in class. We train out pets everyday 24 - 7 whether we think we do or not. They are constantly learning where they are in the pack and testing everyday for consistency. Classes do not help that at all.

Pictures! Pictures! Pictures! Please...
I would be most interested in the diet that you choose for your new-comer. Bonnie has indicated that her pups will have a recommended diet sheet based on Raw-Feeding schedules at 9-weeks of age. I am a good student (having been a consultant for many years you find-out how to learn something new everyday practically) and intend to follow through with her recommendations.
I am also concerned about the vaccinations that the city of Dallas requires for registration and am tryig to figure out a way around them as Bonnie has warned me that most of the issues that she has had with her line is due to poorly timed and/or sequenced immunization injections.
Sounds like I need to start another couple of threads to get some of the answers I will need in the near future.

I did get some info from the breeder about raw, not sure if I'm ready to go that route. They also gave me a list of kibble to feed if we are going to go that route. (Pretty much everything I'm learning on this board). I think I may start with Earthborn with trying to keep some raw in place. As soon as he is home I will post a ton of pictures.

Everyone;
I had a talk with Bonnie Gordon from Big House Bordeaux out of New Jersey.:cool:
She, hands down, has been the most knowledgeable breeder that I have had the pleasure to get to know and to discuss my concerns. She has been with this breed for more than 25 years and has been through and experienced most all of the things that we all worry about. If you get stumped and wish you could find an answer I would highly recommend thinking about including her on your resource list.
Her website is http://www.bighousebordeaux.com and I did ask her before posting this whether or not she would comment about advancing this breed's standard and helping with health issues. She said that she would be more than happy to let anyone know what she believes and feels about this breed. There are no guarentees in life and seldom are health problems so simple that there's a silver bullet fix, but she could provide some ideas as to possible actions and what to expect.
Never before have I ever encountered someone more willing to share so much with an owner before. She was able to talk to me as if I were a breeder myself - when in fact I would never attempt to breed such a difficult breed - but I can't be without one and I know you all know what I am talking about.
Hope everyone finds the Dogue that they have always wanted - I know all of my exhaustive research electronic and literature based has provided me with my dream-companion for my family.
Thanks to all of who participated in this post your input was most valuable to my efforts.

Bonnie is the best! Bonnie Gordon from Big House, Nick Fiortino (maybe misspelled) from Country Bordeauxs and Kris Munday from CamelotBordeaux are my favorites. But when it comes to the DDB in the U.S., Bonnie is number one. Raymond Triquet has used her dogues in some of his books and has also quoted her from time to time, which is pretty impressive.

Saibeer,
Would you mind telling me the DDB breeders you have looked at in Texas? I am in Oklahoma and we are looking for a DDB breeder and have looked at one particular breeder in Texas and am curious if you know anything about them. I just joined the group so I don't know if it is ok to say their name or not on here.

Glad to answer a PM. I know what you mean about trying to be politically correct.
My DDB that I got from the Texas breeder had the most perfect temperament (and intelligent) you could imagine and had lines (you can't really see them in my avatar) that were fantastic. I seriously do not believe the breeder knew of the Lymphoma was in his line as they appeared to be very dedicated, serious and well established breeders. Last I heard though they were looking at selling out their line (or at least no longer breeding their stock).
I contacted and talked to three breeders here in Texas and all were very knowledgeable but they didn't have the ten year experience level with their line that I felt like I needed. The only way I know of to control as many variables as possible in breeding is through line breeding (some will argue that I am sure). DDB's are a very difficult breed to master so I went with a breeder that has a vast knowledge and was sincere enough to sit-down and talk with me about what she is doing and why I thought I really needed a Dogue in the first place and why her Dogues were the only ones I was interested in.
I would be happy to share with you my experience with the Texas breeders, I am sure I still have their contact information around here somewhere. They were all great to talk to and I think they all have the breed's best interest in mind with their breeding schedule. It would have been nice to hold the little bugger in my arms before committing to buy - but I am trading that experience for faith in a very seasoned breeder. (There's more to the story - but its boring).

northland bordeaux, butterball bullies, stout bordeaux, lonley creek and puppy creek <-- (their dogs are awesome, the humans are a little crazy but wont screw you) and a bunch out of country also excalibur bordeaux, vinyard bordeaux, bruin bordeaux, may not have as much experience that your looking for but have awesome and healthy lines.

I have only had three other DDB's. So my experience level is not as great as yours. I got One from the Saudi government that needed protection training (male) ~1985-1990/ One from a byb (female runt) 1995-2007/ and the last one (male from 2007-2012) from a very well known breeder. Of the three; the one from Saudi was the best looking and easiest to train, the female was the most stubborn and aloof, and the last one was the most like personal glue. Loosing this last one has been really hard for the family. I'm getting too long in the tooth to roll the dice anymore so I am going with someone who has fought many battles for me (many successful dogues living 10+ healthy years). After talking to many breeders (several included in your list) I am going with Bonnie at Big House; but I recognize three things really clearly and I am sure everyone else has made the same evaluation before buying: 1st there are no guarantees / 2nd this is a very difficult breed to master so shared long-term experience is very difficult to come by / and 3rd No matter who you buy from you are getting one the most dedicated and all around best companions that the dog world has to offer your family.

It's getting harder to find good breeders here in the states. Unfortunately the breed has become more popular and BYBs have cropped up everywhere!

I can't imagine not have another DDB.....but I will probably be looking in Europe, once again, for my next pup if I get another one.

I have heard and actually been in contact with Butterball bullies. They had already referred me to another breeder who did more rigorous health testing (not to say anything negative about what they are currently doing - they just do not see a need for some of what I was talking about). They thought a breeder with more years experience may be better suited to discuss some of my concerns. I really did like what I saw though from their website.
I had never heard of Rustic farms though and once I went to their site I see why I have not found them on my radar screenings - I have always concentrated on breeders who only bred one breed. It is difficult enough managing one breed's nuances - I can't imagine how difficult it must be working with everything that they have going on at the farm. The site looks very impressive though and you have to give them high marks for their rescue efforts.
I'll tell everyone else another great breeder that I am keeping on the "A" list and that is Ivy Bordeaux. I really like their dedication and honesty. They have bar none been the most informative and yes fun to talk with. They also referred me to another breeder for the same reasons. I haven't heard from either of the breeders that they referred me to though. That is why I am here trying to find out more about breeders of DDB's

I know this post is a little old but I just joined. We got our DDB from IVY Bordeaux and I would not put them on the A list. A couple things that bothered me as I did not live in Texas as that time and I should have known better is that he is breeding undersized dogs. Meaning Chloe does not meet the breed standards for size. We love our DDB and he does have great temperament and no real health issue beside a bout with Mange.

Be wary if he uses Chloe to breed she should not be breed.
