Everyone;
I had a talk with Bonnie Gordon from Big House Bordeaux out of New Jersey.
She, hands down, has been the most knowledgeable breeder that I have had the pleasure to get to know and to discuss my concerns. She has been with this breed for more than 25 years and has been through and experienced most all of the things that we all worry about. If you get stumped and wish you could find an answer I would highly recommend thinking about including her on your resource list.
Her website is
http://www.bighousebordeaux.com and I did ask her before posting this whether or not she would comment about advancing this breed's standard and helping with health issues. She said that she would be more than happy to let anyone know what she believes and feels about this breed. There are no guarentees in life and seldom are health problems so simple that there's a silver bullet fix, but she could provide some ideas as to possible actions and what to expect.
Never before have I ever encountered someone more willing to share so much with an owner before. She was able to talk to me as if I were a breeder myself - when in fact I would never attempt to breed such a difficult breed - but I can't be without one and I know you all know what I am talking about.
Hope everyone finds the Dogue that they have always wanted - I know all of my exhaustive research electronic and literature based has provided me with my dream-companion for my family.
Thanks to all of who participated in this post your input was most valuable to my efforts.
