Mastiff MA.S.S Workout

This has been my only means of exercise over the last four or five years. Keeps both me and my Corso happy, healthy and muscular. He stays ripped year round that part I could use a little work on lol.
Here's a video I threw together outlining one of my routines with my dog.

That's part of my playing with Jiggers as he loves tugging, never would have considered it a workout though.

Yeah I meant the workout part. You have no control on how visceral and angle each bite is gonna be. Good way to hurt your back!

Why are you planning on breeding your Cane Corso to your EM?

The point of creating mixed-breed puppies is...............what?

Lol angle of bite is irrelevant, I'm talking about the angle at which you pull the ball. That.. You have full control over.
Lifting weights is a good way to hurt your
back as well if you are uneducated.

I simply posted a video of what has worked for me over the last four or five years. It is by no means perfect but it works. I just wanted to share what is effective for me without being judged.

No injuries and I maintain 20 inch arms without touching a weight years. I'm far from in perfect shape myself and need to lay off the donuts etc..lol

The workout is intense and not for everyone. That is for sure.

I've had no injuries however, if you are afraid of a low back injury etc.. wear a weight lifting built or try doing something less intense such as Pilates/yoga.

joshrandell i am a bodybuilder been one for 35 years...your workout is fun for you and your dog and you burn lots of calories but hey 20" arms! i doubt you can build any muscle mass like that ...perhaps you are a naturally big guy but to build 20 inch arms like that you gotta lift some serious weights. besides i do that sometimes with volka and he starts shaking vigorously as he bites and there is no telling what he will do.

If it works for you, then that's great. I never slam anyone who makes an effort to be healthy and workout. I wonder though, have you ever done pilates and yoga? They aren't exactly easy if done correctly and beyond the beginner stage. Many physically fit people are surprised when they find that they are unable to do some of the basic moves like a v-sit or a roll up. They don't have the core strength or flexibility. Every kind of exercise has it's own benefits, and when you combine/alternate workout types you get really good results. Yoga and pilates build core strength, flexibility, and long, lean muscles. I do many different kinds of exercise, including pole work and some lifting. I don't lift to build bulk because I don't like the way it looks, I lift to build definition and for strength. Yoga and pilates, among other exercises, have helped me build a very strong core. I'd wager you can do plenty of things I can't, but I also bet I can do a few things at age 45 that you can't thanks to my less intense exercises. As for the Prancercise video - the biggest hype about that has been her white pants and their ... lack of a gusset in the crotch. Not pretty.

You have two good looking dogs. I noted that in the comment section of one of your videos you stated you were planning to breed your CC to you EM. There are plenty of mixed breed dogs already. I find it very irresponsible to deliberately plan such a breeding. I hope you reconsider.

Boxergirl put it much more eloquently than I did re: the planned breeding of your two dogs... what jumped out at me was your phrase about creating"monster" dogs with them. Sent a chill down my spine. I believe most people on this forum do take breeding practices more seriously..or I would hope so.

As for the idea of yoga building strength- especially core strength, and flexibility- yes! I have been practicing Bikram Yoga for over 12 years, and can attest to the overall body-building capabilities it entails. The key word is overall; not just a specific part of the body...

Here are a few pics that were taken of me a few years ago, when I was in my mid forties (and yes, I am still able to get into these postures at 53)...

ETA- the man behind me in the second photo is a Bikram instructor and a performer in the Cirque du Soleil troupe. He is unbelievably fit and flexible...like a gumby, LOL.

As a bodybuilder I think you are a big motivation to look outside my box and learn new things.

Josh really your workout seems fun but for me id rather be more concentrated in the gym and leave the dog exercising separate. besides volka is not as obedient and tolerant as your beautiful CC ...try doing back pulls (tug of war) with a 160+ pounds CAO its not as much fun as you show in the video ...he will be doing the reps counting not me:) and after he gets bored he will jump at my throat (playing of course).
