Bullmastiffs:
Topps Sumo's Ray of Sunshine, aka Sunshine or Sunny, was named in honor of his grandfather, Sumo.
Topps Sita Magnolia, aka Magee (pronounced Maggie), was named after a friend's dog, Sita, who was killed on the highway near our house. Magee went to the rainbow bridge a couple of months ago.
Topps Stormy Night, aka Stormy, just fit her personality. Stormy died of cancer at 2 years old.
Topps Bella Rosa, aka Bella, was named for her beautiful face, and she's a red fawn.
Topps Shadow of Bandog Deedee, aka Deedee, aka Grumpy Girl, was named after her grandmother, Deedee. The last Deedee was one of the last Bandog bullmastiffs, a very famous kennel in our area. They are known for their grace, conformation, and dog agression. Deedee passed away a little over a year ago. I still miss her.
Gems Ruby Begonia on Topp, aka Ruby, came from Gem Kennels. Sire is named Onyx; dame is named Opal. Ruby was a gift to honor the loss of Stormy; the only request the breeder/co owner made was that she be named a gemstone. Not a problem; her other co owner is Ruby Begonia, the town clown of Rubonia, FL.
Golden/lab mix: Mongo. He was named after the character in the movie Blazing Saddles, played by Alex Carras. The character was a big, dumb, sweet guy. Just like our dog.
He was my heart dog. I wouldn't even consider getting ANY kind of pet for over 10 years after I lost him.
GSD/timber wolf mix: Shiva, after the Hindu god of destruction. Oh boy was he aptly named (sigh).
There were many others, but they weren't mastiffs. Some weren't even very big (beagles, cockers).
