Where did you get your dog?

My breeders have been long time friends. So I trusted them and loved their dogs. My first breeder, who I got my Dogos and first couple of Filas from was also where I mentored at. I wanted to learn all I could about the Filas and Dogos before I brought them into my home. My 2nd breeder I met back in the early 90's when I showed Dogos. She also works her Filas and EM's on her cattle farm. So that was huge for me.

Yes I can pick her up just about!! I feel the strain though and need to be careful as my back hasn't been great since having kids! She's a couple of weeks younger than Charlie I think? And is a cane Corso bigger than a DDB? I'm not sure what a cane corso looks like even! [emoji15]about to google images of them now!

Charlie is gorgeous!
Mille is 18.5 weeks. I had her weighed today and she is 16.5kg. That's about 36ish lbs. I think Charlie was heavier than that at the same age?

My son was weighed at a hosptal appointment yesterday. He is 6 and weighed in at 23kg. Not that much heavier than a puppy!! [emoji23]

Both of mine came from what many would consider back yard breeders and if I knew what I now know, I would never have gotten Jiggers. In hindsight his breeder had to be in it for the money. I am thankful I didn't know better. He is a great dog and the only health issue he has is that one ear can get infected fast. Kryten's breeder did do some of the testing recommended even though she didn't use registered dogs in her program. Kryten does have a serious congenital disorder, elbow dysplasia, which wasn't one of the tests done. Given everything else about him matches breed standard I'm more inclined to think it was bad luck on his part rather than bad breeding. It does mean that I'm going to ask for elbow testing for the parents of my next mastiff however.

Ah! That's a cane corso. Are they not very common in the UK? I'm not sure I've seen one before!

I bought my dog off of puppyfind. lol...

What is puppyfind? Is it a site for what people class as registered breeders or a site like the one I found Millie on where people would consider byb to operate on?

My Sasha is a mixed breed found as a stray at a 9month old pup. We adopted her from our humane society.

We had a male Fila that we found on petfinder years ago. He had elbow dysplasia and some baggage but was the sweetest teddy bear boy. My heart dog.

We have fostered many many dogs through a pit bull rescue in our area but eventually adopted Bella, our Dogo, from our local Humane Society. 2 weeks after we adopted her she had to have surgery on her shoulder and then within the next 3 years she needed a TPLO on each knee. She's most likely from the puppy mill formerly known as "PawsRUs" in Quebec, they are not far from our area and were mass breeding very broken dogs (some of which we fostered as well once it was shut down).

We are looking forward to a Fila puppy, our first time using a breeder. So far it's been a great experience; parents are smart, healthy (OFA and PennHIP certs on both) and the breeder is easy to contact and talk to. We're very excited and we'll be sharing pics once we get our boy home in the next few months.

Having been on both sides of this issue I believe that there is a very important part for both responsible breeding AND rescue. Both can get catty lol
