  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Which other breeds?

I have 5 itty bitty dogs so I'm good on that regard. Since I now have a Neo & am totally enthralled with the mastiff breed, I'd love to (someday) have an EM or a BM. Preferably the EM.

As I've said in other threads, we have had IWHs and Great Danes for over twenty years. I've also had a Samoyed and a Heinz 57 dog who lived to be 22. We now have an IWH and our new baby E Mastiff.
Other breeds on my wish list are:
Neo
Cane Corso
Black Russian Terrier
Bouvier des Flanders
Peruvian Inca Orchid

I would love to get a Neo :) growing up I have always wanted an EM and a Neo, which everyone found weird as I grew up with small dogs. We had everything from a corgi, fox terriers, maltese terriers, toy poodles. Then I moved out with a friend who had a rotti, I loved her to death and missed her when I moved out but I never had the urge to get a rotti for myself. When I first had my kids we got a poodle/lab mix, she was an amazing dog. We was so upset when we had to pack up and move away, I was so happy that a friend could welcome her into their family. Once we were settled the house we moved into wouldn't allow dogs so we had to wait. Then we moved into a nice big house with a nice sized yard, so nice that someone broke in :/ so I called my landlord and told him what happened and asked if we could get a dog, he was wonderful about it and even offered to keep his ear out for a nice pup. I told him I didn't want a small dog but a nice big mastiff lol expecting him to change his mind, he surprised me by saying there was on at the local rescue :) but when I called it had been taken :/ then a friend told me about the breeder with a EM x litter, so now I just need to find a beautiful Neo to complete my doggie dream list. Im hoping to complete that dream next year once Alvar is over a year or so old lol one big fast growing pup at a time :p

My wish list (bold is one i actually intend on getting one day)
Caucasian Ovcharka (Will be a few years when i get my farm, but one day it will happen)
Akita
Dogue De Bordeux (Ever since seeing Turner & Hooch I'm in love with the breed)
Great Dane (just ugh, the health problems)
Neo (Short lifespan does concern me though)
There are more but those are the highlights

I should also mention i would love to have a wolf...again. Had a full blood Grey Wolf when i was a kid, one of the best animals i've ever dealt with in my life. Even as a little kid he was incredibly sweet, loving and would never EVER cause harm to his family. Was even very tolerant of small dogs, at 5 years old he was around 130-140 lbs, I was a whoppin 70 lbs at 9 years old and walked him w/out any fear. He was such a good boy. With the laws these days it might be next to impossible to get one w/out a ridiculous amount of caging requirements so who knows if it'll happen but a guy can dream....

I was just going to ask this!

My 1st and true love is the Doberman, I'll always have one or two :) But at some point in my life I'd like to try: Giant Schnauzer, Beauceron, Pure (but older style) Me, maybe a BM, maybe a Dutch Shepherd, or other Mastiff/Mastiff mutts like Branka, the only small dog I'm interested in is probably the Frenchie. Oh and I've seen 2 Pit/Frenchies now and they are one cool looking mix!

There are plenty of other dogs that I really like, but I don't know if I'll ever get one, Rott, CC, Boerboel, Dane, Irish Wolf Hound, Boxer (cool but kinda boring), The"you're awesome but too much fur" category: GSDs, Saints, Leonbergers, Tibetans, Greater Swiss, Kuvasz, Estrela Mountain Dog ... I'm sure I'm leaving quite a few out of my list!

Officially moving the Boerboel to the must have list.... and Adding Black Russian Terrier to the maybe someday list...

;) You couldn't pay me to. Sounds like once in a lifetime pet though.

Aside from German Mastiff ( which already have) , Neos ( when I buy a house) , I would also add the Fila, or Kangal to the list. The Fila seems to be a different caliber "dog" so I need to make sure I want to own one. Kangals I don't know why but I like them if I had a farm I would invest in one.

Haha it was a different experience compared to any other dog i have ever dealt with I must say but the experience is beyond rewarding. Like with any strong-willed canine but 10 times more you MUST be the alpha with these animals. If they get out of line in any way or try to test boundaries you have to correct them, no ifs ands or buts about it. Even then, they're some thing that you can't get around their wild instincts. He would howl in that classic way that would make people fear a werewolf was on the prowl haha. I have to thank my father for showing me how to handle such an animal, he taught me everything i know and what to do and so on. Its definitely not something for everyone, but if you're willing to put in the incredible amount of time and effort it takes to keep them happy it is so worth it. I'll try to dig up some pics if i can find any.

Those are 2 definitely good breeds to put on the list. I actually considered a Fila for a brief moment, but when i saw a picture of an adult Corso playing in the snow and it looked so much like a panther i knew what i had to have haha. To me, if hellhounds were real, they would look like giant Corsos :)

I would agree they aren't for the timid. However I do like it when they howl you can hear so much "feeling" in some of the voices. Cool if you can find pictures that would great would love to see them :)

I don't know why but Corso's just don't appeal to me....:scared2::scared2: :D

I have always owned Dobermans, which I love and added my first Cane Corso a year and a half ago, which I love, so I think my family will always have one of each :)

Just like BeauxJaxson said, I would love to have a German Shorthaired Pointer. I've met a couple over the past 9-10 years & I absolutely love them!

One thing I've learned during my 2 years of being a professional groomer is that I cannot STAND schnauzers. No matter the size everyone I've met were either super skiddish, mean as hell & tried to bite, or the owners NEVER put a comb through their hair & I would spend the better half of an hour trying to dematt those suckers. I would not even own one if they were the last breed of dog on the earth. (Sorry schnauzer lovers!!)

I will always have an EM in my life & another breed I've come to love is the yorkie. I just think they have the cutest personalities. :)

I would love to have another Newfoundland but I'll never move north and I can't keep up with the brushing any more. They are probably one of my favorite breeds. I would love to have a Cane Corso as I think they are beautiful but never will as I don't believe I have the dedication to train them properly and it wouldn't be fair to the dog. And of course, I love my Pomeranians. Yappie little mongrels but sweet and I love their faces. Of course with having 4 dogs at the moment, 1 EM, 2 pom and 1 chihuahua it will be a long time before I add any canines to the house. Realistically at this point in my life if I add anything else it will be a shelter pup.

I always liked the Scott type american bulldog. Also bull terriers, Irish wolfhounds, Catahoula leopard dogs, Tibetan mastiffs, and the kuvasz are on my list.
