While creeping on Facebook....

I found that a girl that I was once in school with is getting a Cane Corso puppy. This saddens me quite a bit. This girl has little to no prior knowledge on what it means to raise a dog. Let alone a Cane Corso puppy. I would say that I am 99% sure that she has done little to no research on this breed and what they are all about. From what I have read on here, I have read that they are a challenge to raise and to handle. This seems very alarming to me.
I don't know why anybody would want to sell this breed to her especially. She has no sense of responsibility, and from when I had known her, she couldn't not keep up with her bills/money... which saddens me for the sake of the health of this poor puppy and its needs. I was on the breeders Facebook page and the profile picture is of the guy holding the dogs mouth open to show off its teeth. Is this kind of weird? I don't know... I just have a bad feeling that the poor puppy is going to end up in a shelter, or worse because they don't know how to handle the puppy. :(I thought about messaging her and giving her friendly advice, but I know it wouldn't go over very well. I guess the ignorance of people never ceases to amaze me.

I know :( Yeah, we are Facebook friends I saw the breeder tagging her in a bunch of photos of the puppy and her commenting on how excited she is. That is how I then found myself on his page. I just thought that most breeders would do a little bit of research on the person that they will be selling a puppy to? Apparently not all do that?

This particular brreder probably cares more about the money than the pups. Maybe post some links about the corso or even message her with the link to here and tell her that you saw she was getting a puppy and thought she might want to join.

I don't think I would care so much if she was getting a puppy such as a lab or something, but from the sounds of it, a Cane Corso is for an experienced dog owner. It just makes me sad to think that they breeder will hand out these dogs to anybody.. their fate is looking pretty grim.

I have been seriously been thinking about it. I just don't want to come off as trying to tell her what to do, or trying to seem like a know it all because I know I definitely don't know everything.

I should just stop now.. but while reading more on the breeders page I found this comment made by somebody who was accusing this guy to be a puppy mill :

"If it was a puppy mill the puppies would be caged side by side..jake u do a damn good job with spreading them out..plus he doesnt breed dogs for a living..it happens when u have that many dogs that u don't want to fix..instead of giving them away I'd sell them too"

What is wrong with these people? I think I just need to block these people off so I don't get anymore upset lol... lbvs!

why dont you ask her why she wants the dog? tell her you were interested in them at one time but once you looked into it saw they were more a liability than anything if you haven't had a bully breed before. its probably too late but it doesn't hurt to try.

I had to block a friend like this. She got a total mix (like four different breeds) from a friend and took it home at like 4 weeks. I just couldn't deal with seeing her posts anymore so I deleted her.

I knew it Facebook the Social drama network.......

I agree with Smart_Family sounds like a "breeder" more interested in $$$$ Just try to offer advice when or if she has some questions. Trying to convience her otherwise does nothing, IMO.

I know, I just ended up deleting them and un-liking the page. I am just irked by the comments on how you end up with so many puppies because you are too lazy/irresponsible to fix your dogs. DOH!

Maybe you should tell her how hard it will be to get a boyfriend with a corso in the house

Does she live near by? Maybe just offer to help her out? Try to give her as much info as you can, let her know if she has questions that you know a bit about the breed, etc. I don't think you can talk her out of the dog, so try the next best thing, try to turn her into a decent dog owner.

You folks got it wrong. Dont delete them, make them delete you. hahahahaha. If it were me, I would explain that you to have become interested in the CC. Then pass on some links you've found. I would look for links that point to the hardness of the dog around strangers, health issues, and har to train aspects. But you cant leave out the good stuff to or you'll look like your being underhanded.

Chances are she's set on the pup. Probly cheap and looks meaner than a pit so it's a winner. But I by no means would I bite my tongue.

I'm with Chuck! Hahaha. I might message her and politely acknowledge that you are interested in all the Mastiff breeds and link her some info and maybe just plug it that it helped you when looking into breeds and thought maybe she might find it useful. Perhaps she'll rethink... perhaps not but it might make you feel better. ;) People irritate me to no end with this stuff... I nearly lost it when a friend on FB that just "Had" to rehome their dog of 3 yrs because they couldn't keep her in the yard and they had another baby and couldn't devote enough time to her anymore. And now... talking about getting another puppy. WTH!!!! Grrrrrr.

I am on a few "pets for sale" sites on fb and continuously see people re-homing their animals for this reason. the other day I saw someone re-homing a pug because it peed on the bed so "hubby said bye-bye." as she stated it. I also saw a king cavalier charles spaniel (or whatever) for 500.00 a fully grown one because they had a baby and they don't have time for it....... I have no words for these people!

whoops, forgot to say to Chuckorlando-- that that is my guess- the part about it being cheap and looks meaner than a pit. You got it right on the money I am pretty sure that is why her and her boyfriend are taking an interest in them....

Ugh I am a member on another board that has an ego maniac that had to have a corso, despite when asking all these questions and getting sound advise... he got the dog anyway, for dirt cheap because he didn't want to pay for it, then keeps it in the crate for 10 to 14 hours a day, has no time to exercise it, feeding it science diet and prounces it Cane (as in sugar cane) corso because when he was corrected on another website he asked his "breeder" and the breeder said no it was prounced like hurricane and the other people were wrong.

I have had to hold myself back a lot on those particular posts but if anyone wants to read them let me know and I will post the link so you can all see how well I have been behaving ;) :p

People never cease to amaze me. This is why I like to wear one of my favorite shirts, "I love dogs, it's humans that annoy me" :p
