Whole eggs

I gave my dogs whole eggs for the first time yesterday. Kryten crushed the shell, licked up the egg and the ate the shell. Jiggers punctured the shell, licked/sucked out the egg, broke the shell to lick it clean and then left the shell for Kryten to eat. It surprised me that they ate them in such different ways that it made me wonder if one was normal or if both were. How does your dog eat a raw egg?

I don't feed my boy eggs because I don't like the thought of egg shells coming out the other end. They don't digest.

I don't usually give Oscar the shell because he tends to have a twitchy tummy, but Ebony used to just plop her muzzle down and macerate, no discriminating between parts or pickiness involved. I don't feed whole eggs much anymore (unless I'm using egg whites for a recipe and need to dispose of the yolks) because they give Oscar horrible eggy farts.

Thor won't eat the shell, I'm not sure what Stone would do, but I figure he would eat it if I crushed the shell in his food.

3 dogs, 3 different ways. As a pup, Cane would play with the egg until it cracked then proceeded to eat the whole thing, as he got older...Yawn...Boring. I'll wait for dinner. Ziva, the rescue, that lived on the streets and almost starved doesn't waist a thing. Jezzy, the hyper ACD, runs back and forth and steals licks from the big kids, leaving her whole one for Ziva.

BTW, Jezzy's favorite delicacy is Fila slingers, she sneaks up on them and sucks them down straight from their lips, like spaghetti. LOL

are raw eggs safe to give them? I've heard some conflicting views about whether its better to cook them or not.

The concern is that avodin can cancel out biotin and potentially cauce a biotin deficancy. Don't feed them with every meal, and if you feed raw don't feed them with your liver/organs, and you don't really have much to worry about. The avodin can't bind to the biotin if its not in the system at the same time.

Wrong.

You have PM.

There's another one floating around food by a different person, want me to flag it? I was polite :D

Yea we give eggs as an occasional treat or if someone's being picky about food we will put one on top. You definitely don't want to feed them everyday.
