So exciting, I'm sure it seems like they've been away forever to you, but I can't believe they are heading home so soon, seems like yesterday you were announcing that they were heading to the US for treatment!

It's strange.
It feels like forever since they left. Me and Caroline were talking yesterday about getting to know each other again as we have been apart so long and all this has affected us so differently and so much.
But it also feels like only yesterday that we were so happy to just sit together on a pull out bed in a hospital ward and eat a smuggled Chinese meal or just lay holding each other watching the lights on the machines and waiting for the next beep meaning we had to call a nurse.

I'm now getting videos of Caitlin dancing like a loon and giggling. That's not the Caitlin I remember and I can't wait to meet the new improved girl that has gone from a poorly little lass to a girl who in her mothers words is a "pain in the arse".
All kids should have the energy to be annoying.

Today is Caitlin's last proton.
I could not be more proud of her or of her beautiful Mam.
This situation I'd not wish on anyone but Caroline and Caitlin have shown strength beyond measure in how they've faced the journey.
We all think we have problems but something like this really puts stuff in to perspective.
A wise man once said "if you're going through hell, keep going".
That's the only way to come out the other side. And so far Caitlin is coming out smiling.
Not long till they are home.

Well after a 3hr drive across the stunning Pennines and following an E-type jag through sleepy villages I've arrived in Manchester.
Time for a pint and a bite to eat before an early night then pick the girls up in the morning.

Okay okay maybe more than one pint.

Everyone is. We had to race her home (obeying the speed limits, of course) so she could make it to her sisters first communion.
Beautiful service and Caitlin enjoyed it very much.
We all had a wonderful day and a take away for tea with a movie. I can confirm Just Married sucks and Ashton Kutcher sucks.

Everything was great.
Until 0430 when Jodie woke up being sick everywhere.

Oh and I've seen a British bulldog on a local selling site that needs rehoming. So so tempting. Just having a serious think if current circumstance allow.

Well that's all gone to shit.
It seems the bug that Jodie had has passed.
But now Caitlin has it.
She's been rushed back in to hospital by Mam with a high temp.
Normally a bug means just a sofa day and some chicken soup but anything with Caitlin is scary.
So here we are now waiting to see what's what from more blood tests etc.

Oh and we've a visit to the specialists tomorrow to discuss the next stage of treatment.

I'm going to the appointment tomorrow. I've never been to an appointment before. Mum does that and I just get told what's happening.
I'm dead worried.

I will say some prayers for you, Caitlin and her mum.

How is it going now?

All good thanks. Well nearly all good, still some tough times but all in all she's doing great.
Early morning hospital appointment this morning for interferon. She had her first injection two days ago and so far no adverse reactions so that's a plus.
We took all three for a meal yesterday and had a girl asking if Caitlin was a boy or a girl (short hair I think haha) and asking if she was okay and saying she felt sorry for her.
Whilst that does get annoying it's easy to explain that she's poorly but doesn't need people feeling sorry for her, she just needs people to play with her like any other kid.

Oops haha. Whilst typing that the nurses have just come in to drag Caitlin off the bed bay. Apparently she needs isolation as she's been in a foreign hospital.

Don't know why but I'm having a massive crisis today.
I've come home, as I must, to do my washing and get ready to back to work after my week off with Caroline and the kids.
The last week has been awesome.....but......
Well I guess it's finally hit me.
This is real.
It's not a game and I can't just cash out when the pressure gets too much.
