Cane Croso mistaken for a Pittbull?

Hey all you Cane Corso Guardians!

I am just curious how often your CC's are mistaken for giant pittbulls? To me there is a major difference and I can spot it. To people who who aren't breed saavy(like my friend) I can understand the mistake. I don't know how often I hear of some one saying the say a MONSTER PITTBULL. I get them to discribe it and I can picture the CC in my head. Expecially when I hear it had to be at least 120-140lbs.

So do you get "what a nice looking Pittbull"?

I think it is definitely a common mistake for people who aren't dog smart. I don't have a Corso but I have had APBT's my whole life until now and I have an EM. It amazes me at the people that ask me if he is a Great DAne and REALLY blows my mind when they ask if he is a St. Bernard. LOL

A St.Bernard...REALLY?

As bad as it is I would probably laugh in there face. You know if they were adults. i understand children not knowing.

It is crazy. To me there may be a little resemblance to Great Dane at the tall and gangly stage but never a St. Bernard but people who don't know dogs....Just don't know, they just see BIG. I did have to explain the differences between the two breeds. LOL

At least it makes sense when people ask me if Apollo's a St Bernard cross.....

Yes. I definitely think it's because this is an unique breed in certain areas. I have had my blue for 3 weeks now in Louisiana and people are asking me the same thing, "Is that a pit bull?"

My EM still gets Pit Bull on occasion but there is one woman who has decided that I have a really nice Rottweiler.

My EM is called a Dane all of the time, and yeah I got the St Bernard for the first time the other day. I was flabbergasted.

Because he is dark, I guess? There are no similarities otherwise. SMH

I honestly don't know because I can't see any similarities. What makes it worse is she has told me that I'm wrong because she has owned Rotties and knows what they look like.

Aren't those the best? The idiots that know better than you , what you have? I almost throat punched a woman when Ruger was about 5 months old when. Initially she just said "Great Dane?", I said "No, English Mastiff" and what did she come back with? "I hate to be the one to tell you this but whoever sold you that puppy lied to you...At the very least, that puppy is a GD mix!". I am a limited patience type of person so I rudely told her " I hate to be the one to tell you this but you are a dumbass." People never cease to amaze me.

That mistake is how I got Elvis. The people were advertising the dad as pitbull when in fact he cc. Here, anything with even a hint of that body type or head automatically gets called a pitbull.
