Cinder Starting Training

good work.....except I wouldn't be using the crate for a Place. Keep those two things separate. Place will be a valuable tool if used properly. Keep working. I'll post a couple of vids that will help as well.

I forgot I did my little feeding protocol that I do with Solo every day. It looks pretty simple and easy but it took work....I worked on place command with him every day from the day I brought him home at 3....I also worked on the feeding routine from day one...so it's def not something that just happens...but if you keep working and demand your pup do the same you will get there. I use place every day with Solo. Not just for feeding but also to work on impulse control, duration, relaxing etc....it really is magical how it helps the dog.

Cool!!! She did really well at lunch time... only had to tell her once!!! I didn't get a video because the dishwasher repair guy was on the way... *sigh* that's a whole other story... LOL... never a dull moment around here!!!
(Ps. That story doesn't involve cinder... she was very good while he was here!!)

Even though last weekend and the first of last week was a bit rough with Cinder being sick.... she has been doing very well with bed, sit, and stay... she still also pulls on the leash, but it's mainly because I'm not going as fast as she is... she is getting there...
During the many visits to the vet she did listen quite well when getting on the scale and sitting... also as we waited for a room she was very conformable with sitting right next to me...
This morning we had a bit of socialization with non furry friends... my son's preschool has a letter of the day/week... at the beginning of each week they have a letter and on Monday they bring in something from home that starts with that letter...
Well, today's letter was 'D'... his teachers have seen Cinder in the van a couple of times and they are always asking him about her... so it was no surprise when they asked if I would bring her in this morning... last week I kept them up to date on her illness and said that if she wasn't feeling well I wouldn't, but we would see....
She has been feeling much better, so this morning his class got to meet her... EVERY ONE was very well behaved!!! I laid some ground rules of staying back and giving her some space... and a little bit of time to get the excitement out of her system...
Cinder listened very well and sat when I told her to, and she stayed as still she could!! Each one of the 12 kids got to come up and pet her for a little bit.. some were shy and some were not so shy... I think she licked each and every one of their little hands!!
Cinder only got up from her sit position a couple of times, and it was because one of the not so shy kids came up a little fast or was a little overzealous with the petting... Cinder would get a little excited and her butt came up... but she really refocused well with correction!! For a 4 month old pup... she did very well
Even though the whole encounter lasted about 10 min, I'm extremely proud of how Cinder performed... a month ago I would of declined the teachers request... and im not saying she is ready for events like this every day, but she is showing progress.

That is wonderful. Glad you got to do it. It is a great socialization exercise for her and the kids. Also happy that she is feeling better.

Edwin was on cloud 9!! He loves Cinder, and he was so excited to show her off this morning...
I take him to preschool m/w/f mornings... but our town has what they call a trolley... its like a taxi only with the shorter handicap buses... and they have one that takes some of the preschoolers home/babysitters wherever they need to go after preschool... we thought it would be good practice for edwin for when he gets older and goes to school...
His trolley driver is an older lady and she absolutely LOVES Cinder... she got a kick out of seeing Cinder sitting at the door watching for Edwin (big glass storm door... fyi it got taken off in the last snow storm we had :-( )
And a few times I have put her leash on and we go out to the end of driveway.. she allows Cinder to come up the steps so she can pet her!!
We have been very lucky here, and everyone we have introduced her to (although it is just a handful) has been very friendly and take direction from us as owners on how to act and interact with her.
I know it won't always be like that, I'm just glad Cinder's beginning socialization encounters have been positive ones!

So glad to hear that Cinder is doing well health-wise and with training. I know for me, Bella is great on the leash because he has the same pace as me and really listens/interprets my body language well. Sage has to really focus on the walks because her pace is faster so you can see her actively pay attention to me and slow down to match my pace. Then I will speed up to match hers. Sage definitely gets more of a mental workout from our walks and that is what Cinder will get also. I walk out very structured, but on the way back I let them sniff around a little bit and get some space between us, but I never stop moving so they are learning how far forward/backward they can go.
