Good choice of dog food?

Earthborn and Acana are good brands, so's Orijen, but Orijen's expensive, and some dogs find it to rich.

The big thing with the pup is to find something in the good calcium/phos range, that he does well on.

As a general rule here we tend to lean towards grain free, but some does DO do better with some grains, we prefer that as much as possible of hte protein come from meat not plant sources, and try to avoid unspecified "animal fat" "animal digest", and similer type ingredients.

For the giant breed pups:

Duck and Bartlett pear (duck is the sole meat protein source so it would count as limited ingredient)
Wild Prairie
Pacifica (fish is the sole meat protein source)
are all good choices, the Calcium/phos ratio isn't perfect, but its not far off either (wild prairie does have chicken if you have an allergy issue)

Their Chicken and Burbank has a spot on calcium/phos numbers, but again is chicken if there's an allergy issue.

Those would be the best choices, IMO, they do have a large breed puppy but the calcium/phos ratio is further off than the first three and unlike the rest has a non-meat ingredient in the first two ingredients (as things go its not a BAD ingredient, but if I'm going to be picky then I'm going to be picky dammit).

EVO's got WAY to high a calcium for a giant breed pup. Every single one has a minimum calcium over 2, some as high as 2.5
