Hi, my name is Kristina Sherling (Kristi) and we own SIERRAS' TIBETAN MASTIFFS. We started our research in 1978 the old fashioned way, visiting dusty old bookstores, typewriting letters, phone calls etc., and acquired our first TM in 1980, Wakefield Kaung Kin Peya Ye-Bo who was the first TM to ever earn his TT (temperament test) certificate, he is TT-TM-1.
You will literally find Sierras' dogs behind the programs of drakyi, Sundari, Chenporewa, Shang Hai, Seng Khri, Ayyangadoo, Timberline and many more. Some are in Europe, many are in America.
We have judged all over the world, Russia, Estonia, Taiwan, USA, and most recently China. If anyone has general questions about the Chinese dogs, please feel free to ask.
We know a good majority of the pedigrees and of course, the ancestors in the pedigrees, health and very often, knew the long ago ancestors as well.
We health test all of our dogs, breeding and companion stock so we get a much better idea of what our breeding program is producing and if we need to *tweak* it. We have finished many AKC champions (and have spayed/neutered those same champions) and look forward to the upcoming years.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of Chinese crossbred dogs (marketed as TMs) which are called *market type* and because of their huge hair, lots of wrinkles and size, are infiltrating the TM gene pool which is not good considering this brings in Neopolitan, DDB, Chow Chow, Newfoundland, Mastin Espanol, possibly Korean Dosa. The dogs from China no longer have shorter ears befitting a breed from a high, bitterly cold, country and we see dogs with huge thin ear leathers more befitting crosses with lowland breeds.
Please feel free to comment or ask questions here or email me at seabreezeranch@aol.com
Now I look forward to this great board!!
