Found another breeder within 3 hours of me that I'm pretty excited about...gonna see about driving over and meeting with them in the next week or two. I talked with her on the phone yesterday and they have a litter expected to be born within the week.

2 year genetic health guarantee and even I can tell the parents are much better than the previous breeder I was looking at. I spoke with her a few minutes ago and she is expecting the puppies any time now. I'm driving over on Sunday to meet with them and to meet the mother and papa dogs. What questions should I ask or what should I look for while I'm there? I've had lots of stupid dogs in my life with a couple true gems thrown in by luck...it would be nice to narrow down the odds in my favor of getting another great one!

From the FB page of the Big Dawg Mastiffs... it looks like they have a litter about once every 6 months.... how many females did they have? I certainly hope more than one.
Can't tell from the pictures, but it looks like the same pink collared female with a litter on the ground in November 2012, too... :(

Yikes. Diva, The poor bitch at "Big Dawg Mastiffs" was 23 months old when she had her first litter... and is on litter #3, 15 months later...

The following is a link to a reputable breeder's site that lists some of the red flag warnings that puppy buyers should watch for. Also, pay attention to what DennasMom is saying...you want a breeder that puts quality pups over quantity. You also want to check what health testing has been done. Read that 2 year health guarantee carefully; it may not mean much.

Also, if you really want a quality pup take your time and do some research on the Breeder's you are thinking of purchasing from. A lot of good breeders will often have a waitlist for their pups...use that time to check things out thoroughly. A good breeder should check you out thoroughly also; good breeders are very concerned that their pups are going to a suitable home. Don't accept their word regarding testing; ask to see the results. There are some breeders on this forum, hopefully they will chime in. Good luck :)

Thank you so much for all the information! I'm working on soaking it all up...there is a lot to learn.

I forgot to ask her about health testing on the parents or the ages of them when I spoke with her earlier so I just sent her an email and am waiting on the response.

Would someone take a look at the contract on the HosmanBn farms website and give me your thoughts on that. This will be the first time I have signed a contract on a dog and want to make sure everything looks kosher.

I don't see any huge issues or red flags.
