  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Hi from South Florida!

Hiya! My name is Denise but everyone calls me Nise ("niece") so please do the same :) I will try to keep this short BUT I got the gift of gab from my dad :lolbangtable:l se

Ive been married 12 yrs next months & we have 2 human boys, ages 11 & 7 (I call them 'The Boys') Then to our "kids" yes I call our pet "The Kids" - we have 2 cats, Jack & Koshka (Had their mom too but she passed away this past Oct.
:( - she was a feral cat I trapped back in 05' & discovered she was pregnant, she got attached to me & only me so we decided to keep her & 2 of her kittens, found homes for the others.)

And we have 5 dogs & getting a pup next month.

Here's a group shot from our Christmas card last year:
IMG_0783-1.jpg

Cecily, 5 next month, 80lbs (Cane Corso), Rita, 5 in April (Am Staff/Bulldog mix), Bobo, just turned 13 (Basset hound mix), Ty & Tucker, 3 in April (Brothers/litter mates - hound mixes).

I did dog rescue when we lived in VA (2002-2011) So 09'-11' I did dog rescue with my friend. And Cecily & Rita are foster "failures"

Cecily came to us with a broke femur (pulled her from a shelter in MD) She was picked up as a stray w/ the broken leg & cherry eyes of course, it was suspected she had been hit by a car. She sat like that in the shelter for 2 weeks before heard about her :( The vet there recommended amputating her leg, but we said "NO, we'll have our vet look at it". Thankfully we did b/c our vet was able to put a pin in it & its good as new. She had cherry eye surgery 3 times, first 2 times he tried to tack them but they kept popping out so the third time (during her spay) he just removed them.
Heres a picture of her the day I got her.
March 2010

And a picture of her from last month

She's a Daddy's Girl!!!

Rita (50lbs) we pulled from the same shelter as Cecily, got her out July of 2010. She was picked up as a stray with no hair, a massive skin infection AND sarcoptic mange. Got the mange and infection all cleared up but no hair was coming back. We were hopeful that after spaying her it would grow back but nope. Vet thinks with the scarring from infection & having the mange for so long her hair follicles are "dead". But almost 2 yrs later & lots of supplements (fish oil, coconut oil & melatonin) she's gained maybe 200 new hairs, lol. But we love her - she's got a huge wardrobe!

And our senior, Bobo (50lbs), he turned 13 last month on the 26th & his health has really started to decline. We adopted him from a Humane Society when he was 8 weeks old. The thought of him passing makes me want to cry. Here's a picture of him from his bday last month. He's such a good sport.
Bobo13.jpg

And my hound boys! Adopted these 2 from a kill shelter when they were 8 weeks old. No clue what hound mixes they are but w/ looks & temperments I think Ty is a plott hound and Tucker a Greater Swiss Mtn.

Picture of the day I brought them home: April 16, 2009 (Ty was 11 lbs, Tuck 13lbs)

And here's one of them from their 3rd bday, the 16th of this month (They are both right at 80lbs)

And our newest addition is a CC pup, he'll be 8 weeks when I pick him up next month. My friend I did rescue with has him & his litter mates. Their mom was picked up as a stray lactating & it took ACO's 4 days to find the house with the pups, the "owners" didnt want to sign them over as they intended to sell them.. NOW mind you this is is VA, in January & the pups were OUTSIDE! Grrr... but anyway, they claim dad was a CC as well. When my friend told me about them my husbands first words were "Are there any boys?" We've fallen in love with the breed especially my hubby, lol.

Here's their mom, Dido
DidoRhysMama.jpg

Our baby we're naming Rhys ("Reece") With getting Cecily at the age of 3, I have no clue what a cc pup looks like so thoughts are welcomed, Im not so sure dad was a CC but their mom is GORGEOUS!

Not sure if this is him or not but this is 1 of the 4 at 2.5 weeks (My friend feeds raw and they took to it from day one, I also feed raw)

Been loving looking at everyone's mastiff's & dogs!! And I look forward to getting to know everyone!!

Hi and welcome to the board! Thank you for rescuing and you have a beautiful pack! We are also in love with corsi and it is hard to tell from teh pics if Dad was a corso so I think you might have to wait it out while he grows and see what you think when he is mature but we certainly are looking forward to pics of him and the rest of your crew!

You have a great looking crew! Kinda reminds me of mine just a few years back. We had 5 dogs (all rescues). We moved to a very small town in Central, MS. We lost two of our boxer mixes only 3 months after moving. It was tragic and to try to keep it short, they (my boxer mixes) unlatched a very difficult latch/lock to the fence (that they had never ever unlatched before) during the course of short summer thunderstorm. As we were new to the area and no one around here knew our dogs, a neighbor called the cops. They were chasing her cat and hanging around in her yard. She brought in her chained up dog and didn't want them staying in her yard because she wanted her cat to come home. Sooo, even though they were microchipped, but unfortunately didn't have a collar on, the cops decided to shoot them both! My husband let them out at about 3:00 and we later found out they were shot right around 3:30 directly diagonally across the street from our house! We now just lost our 3rd (white boxer) to cancer Christmas day. Sooo, we are down to only 2 from our pack of 5. Ours were an assorted crew of rescues and we have truly loved them. Thanks for sharing your pics and story. Sorry, my story went so long. I didn't mean for it too. Your pics kinda took me back. I joined the forum to learn more about mastiffs as I may add one one day. It's a great place. Welcome to you and your crew!!! --- I use raw too!

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Thank you for opening your heart to all those babies in need :D
Can't wait to watch your pup grow as well.
As was said you will have to wait a bit until you can see if or what the Daddy is :)
Momma looks like a sweet girl.
Thank you again for taking in and loving those that many would toss away

Thanks Chuck, not far from us at all!

PuppyPaws, I am so, so very sorry for the loss of all of your boxers. :(The 2 how they went is horrible & so wrong of that officer :( And we have lost several pets to cancer, it sucks! :( On a side note I had a foster white deaf boxer for a while, she had mange & her before after pics were amazing. I originally fostered her for a Boxer rescue but then it closed & then met my friend who has a rescue & we took over the remaining boxers. Long story short, I adopted her out to a girl I went to H.S. with that already had a white boxer so it was perfect.

Thanks Cody, it was such rewarding "work". Im looking forward to watching him grow too & there will be plenty of pics b/c I LOVE to take them, you can say its kind of an obsession :lolbangtable:

@allformyk9s- Thanks! That may have been too much for an "introduction" response. Oh well :D. My white boxer was deaf, too. He was a great dog and I don't think having a deaf dog is bad at all. Everyone that I have talked to that has owned on, pretty much says that they are very good about "watching" you and the other dogs and aren't all that much prone to wander off. (Of course, I never let mine out of sight). He was a wonderful, wonderful dog. Looking forward to seeing all your pics :). I need to post some, but mine areN'T mastiffs. Hopefully, one day! Again, welcome!
