How badly does your Mastiff react from a scolding?

When I say, "WTF", in a stern voice, Titan knows that he has done something and he automatically lays down and closes his eyes. It's like he's saying, "I know she can't see me." After a couple of minutes, I ask him to come to me and sit. He gets some hugs and kisses and he's fine.

Sometimes, when I say WTF because I've done something like drop a glass, he will still do the same. I have to tell him to come to me and I love on him. He's fine after that.

Oh Limping! My Doberman used to do that when he was in trouble.

I kinda figured the TM's would be the most non-reactive of the bunch. Maybe that's where Chows get there attitude from. Because I know Duncan (more Chow than Rott) tries to blow off any reprimends he will stare at me then get close and look me in the eye like "you sure what I did was wrong?"

Barron when we say "What is this?!" Will simply look away and avoid eye contact. Depending how bad the situation is he will talk back to us and give us Sh** for giving him sh**. Our Lab will cower and look pitiful and try and give us kisses.

Thor will give us those big puppy eyes but Xena just gives it right back to me. I tell her no she barks back at me, I give her shit she barks back. It's like fighting with a teenager.:lolbangtable:

Our catahoula couldn't give a **** if we scold her, but Topaz acts like we beat her all the time. LOL Blue just looks at us like "Yup. I did it" and walks away as we are still scolding. Topaz will put her head down, tuck her tail under and walk in slo mo mode. So it's hard to scold and laugh at the same time. All she has to hear is "What did you do?" in that low voice and she spends the rest of the afternoon upstairs in my daughter's room sulking. She puts herself in time outs.

I forgot I have the picture for this one from when he was about 4 years old.

Duncan definitely has the evil eye that I have seen from the Pure Chow's I once knew as a kid.... You walked up to their kennel fence and that is the look you received.

Both of mine react to 'Excuse Me?' Kryten will drop his head and come over and lean against me while Jiggers will either drop to the floor or move to the couch (his time out spot) and mope for a while.

Gunny will give a pitiful look and then 5 seconds later tries to give kisses. He is very sensitive, especially if I raise my voice.

Tessa 99% of the time is quite sure I am talking/scolding someone else, she *usually* doesn't give a shit either.

But, I guess today I finally had a reaction that shocked her furry ass--she mouthed the kitty a little too much today, had him by his neck & I freaked & yelled as I'd never seen her do this--she released & ran & I ran after her, she rolled & I held her mouth shut & gave her a scolding that meant business & took the kitty & went back into the house & left her out to think about it a few min while I got my head together.

She sulked like hell for HOURS after that & knows good & damn well what she did was wrong. So I KNOW she made the connection...
Hours later she was approaching kitty in the bedroom & I was walking in, she did a double take then did a dive under the bed instead of for the kitty--sigh--you'd think I beat the bejeezus outta her.
Same thing in the livingroom, she keeps diving under the furniture if I look at her when she is by the cat...
She is in the bedroom by herself--leaving the cat alone & sulking...

pohm the rottie, doesnt give a rats arse if i think its wrong what she's done. I left her the opportunity, my fault.

This is amazing! My husband and I were dumbfounded when Bailey went into a hurtful sulk, you could feel the waves of "poor pity me." After two mild corrections/diversions from digging up my tomato plants, I went ballistic! I yelled, I yanked her out of the hole she'd dug and I gave her two light smacks on the bottom. The sorrow! The heart wrenching soulful looks, followed by self-imposed exile - she wouldn't come when called, but lay staring at the wall. I caved, but it took hours to win her affections back.
It was obvious that she was super sensitive to a physical correction, and perhaps it's not so much deciding to disobey but just too young to resist.
