Just an FYI since this thread is still rolling along. We've done a complete 180 and decided to get a puppy. My wife was upset with the rules of the shelter and we found out that we've both secretly like Scotties. We happened to find a really good reputable Scotty breeder close by with some pups that will be available April 8th. We've put our deposit down on a wheaten male. His name will be William Wallace, although we'll just call him Willy.
After a few trips to the dog park, we've noticed that Gunny seems to enjoy the smaller dogs more than the medium/larger dogs. We have no idea why, but we just want to make sure he's happy with his new sibling. When we get some property (hoping to get at least 10 acres within a few years) we plan on getting a few more mastiffs. For now, we're in the burbs with a pool and not a lot of room in the yard.
