That's great news. I hope that after all this time they take all necessary precautions to keep him confined. I also strongly believe in microchipping as well. It's the one peace of mind I have that if my dogs were to somehow escape & they never wear collars, the microchips will hopefully get them back to me.

Born and raised in Duluth too (now live in WI)! So glad he's going back to the warmth of FL!

Great story. I believe in microchipping as well...but only if you like the pet. LOL, just kidding. It is also a good story as to why you don't just take a dog that you find. I almost hit a young dog once, stopped, got him into the car and took him home. Kids thought we were getting another pet and were so excited about it. But when we were out posting the found flyers, this guy pulled up so happy that we had found him and kept him from getting run over. I never understood the whole finder's keeper's mentality when people find a dog.

Northernmastiff that reminds me of people who would abandon animals at the animal shelter I worked at. Once in awhile we would get one that was microchipped. People are dumb haha.

Thanks for the good news! It's so nice to read a piece about dogs in the news and not to come away raging.

Hey thats a cool story. Maybe in the future dogs will be injected with microbots which could be traced via internet anywhere in the world. That way you will always be able to find your dog!

GREAT story with a happy ending! Thanks for sharing! :)

I just asked this in a different thread as well, but if a pup is microchipped and then stolen, and the new "owners" take him to their vet, will they be able to tell that the dog does not belong to them? I'm just wondering how easy the recovery process is, once the microchip is in a lost pup?
