max had a good life and he brought you joy and you brought him joy....try to keep him comfortable and pain free and avoid any situation that can cause him stress. when the decision comes...just think of the good days with him and that you did all what you can to give him a good life.

Rang the vets today and made the choice.
Poor lads legs are killing him and the mental anguish is not something I'd like to live with.
So Friday is the day. The receptionist was crying as much as I was.
We've upped his pain meds to a level that would cause long term damage but will ensure that he's pain free for his last few days.
I've plans to have a nice shirt walk with lots of sniffing and treats and maybe a pizza for tea.

I am so, so sorry about Max. I really admire you for being able to make the best decision for him, I'm not sure that I'd be able to do the same. I would just tell you to fill these days with all the things he loves, and that you love to do together, but I already know you'll do all of that and more. He is such a lucky boy to have found you to spend the last part of his life with. He couldn't have wound up in more loving hands. Once again, I'm so sorry. @CJ: I am so sorry you are having to go through this painful journey. Your pup is so very lucky to have you. Here's hoping that whatever days you have left together, are the most awesome days ever. It's heartbreaking, but what a great time he will have with such an awesome, loving fur-parent.
