  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

New CC mommy (hopefully)

Hi everyone, after a lot of research about cane corsos and mastiffs my fiance and I have decided to take the plunge and adopt a cane corso fila brasileiro mix. She is a beautiful brindle pup and we are so excited to get her! I figured that the more I know about these amazing breeds the better and wanted to introduce myself. Hopefully I will have some pics of her early next week when the adoption is final :D

Welcome! Do you know anything about Fila's? They are not for everybody. A correct Fila should not accept strangers, period. You should really know a lot about the breed before you commit to getting one.

I'm not trying to be nasty but please do some research. If your pup has a true Fila temperament you will need to know how to handle it. They are very wonderful, gentle and loving dogs with their family but people who do not live with them are considered strangers and should not be accepted. BTW, you usually don't see the true temperament in pups, it can take up to a year for them to come into it. They are the only dogs that I know of that the judges at dog show do not touch. This is not counted against them as this is a trait that is breed for.

Wow, I didn't realize the judges didn't touch them. I've never been to a dog show. That's so cool. Dog instincts are amazing. Good luck with your baby and train, train, train...

Absolutely! That was actually the first thing the foster mom and I talked about before she allowed us to meet her. We have done lots and lots of research so I am hoping we will be prepared lol We are going to meet her tomorrow and we will see how it goes :)

Wonderful. Sounds like ya'll are going to be fantastic parents:). Too many people are sold Fila's without any warning about their temperament. Many of those get taken to shelters where they are usually put down.

Several of us on this forum own Filas and will be glad to help you with your questions when we can.

Welcome to the exciting world of mastiffs.

Exciting news! After meeting Sable today her foster mom (who has a lot of experience with corsos and filas) is allowing to pick her up in a week once we get our house puppy ready! The meeting with her went well and how I expected it to. When we first got there she did not really pay any attention to us but by the time we were leaving (two hours later) she was following us to the car lol
I am going to be pretty honest, I fell in love with her as soon as she put her cute little face into my hands lol
