Another name for the Presa Canario is Canary Mastiff, so yep it's a mastiff.

Sorry....while there are many mastiff-type or molosser-type dogs, there is only one Mastiff (and shouldn't be called an English Mastiff, except when used to gently correct or inform another person who doesn't have all the facts).

PS -- The Presa's real name is actually a "Perro de Presa Canario", and should be called as such by all who cherish the breed.

Sorry that my ignorance has been offensive. Your instruction is appreciated. I don't want to be seen as someone that doesn't cherish the breed. I hope the mastiff people that run this forum will please still allow me to be a part of the site ray:. There is a ton of great info here.

I know this blank stare all too well. After telling them he a spanish "mastiff" I always get the same response, oh my gosh he's gonna be huge, after which I smile and nod!!
