CL seriously pisses me off when it comes to mastiffs. I had to stop looking. There were 2 separate occasions where I really lost my shit & one lady got an ear full.
She had a 2 year old EM who, in her post sounded really sincere about finding the dog a new home, so I emailed & asked if she would consider surrendering the dog to this great rescue. She came back at me with a shitty attitude about how she would not do that. Know why? Bc she wouldn't be recouping any of the money she lost on the dog. I can't remember the amount she was asking for but it was beyond ridiculous.
The other situation was a gentleman bought a BYB CC. He placed multiple ads on CL with the asking price of $1800. The dog was not quality at all & every single one of his pictures just showed the dog stuffed in a crate with no water, toys, anything. Not saying dogs need these items in their crates but the look on the poor little girls face was just heart wrenching. The kicker? He apparently only paid $700 for the dog & was asking not just double but double then some.
I have taken a break from looking at mastiff ads on CL. They just infuriate me most of the time & while I wish there was something I could do, I refuse to give any of those people money so they can just get another dog, breed the crap out of it & then throw it away just like they had done before.
