Hmm since this was bumped I guess I should update that the girls are on prey model raw with the odd The Honest Kitchen Force meal every now and again when I forget to thaw something.

I know I brought this back from the dead but I have some questions and I don't see any reason for a new thread. From what I've read here there isn't an ideal food because every dog is different but are there some good guidelines to go by as far as protein and stuff go? Where is a good place to learn more about feeding raw? Does it turn out to be much more expensive than feeding good quality dry food?

I had Zeus on blue buffalo salmon recipe and he had a lot of loose stool, we recently switched him to TOTW pacific stream and he seems more excited with a better coat and great solid stools BUT has HORRIBLE gas all the time now... So we are debating what to do next... Anyone else have that sort of problem?

Well i am giving proteins to my dog, because proteins are very effective for the dogs and i have thought to give beans to my dogs and it is very good for dogs because beans are full of protein. Beans really showed some better results for my dog's diet.

At 16 weeks old Dozer has been on 4 total different foods. The breeder had him on Pedigree Large breed puppy, first ingredient... Corn so that went bye bye. We went to Premium Edge Large Breed Puppy but 3/4 through a 35 pound bag could not get normal stools from him, always pudding texture even with increasing or decreasing feeding levels for several days. Next try was Veterinary Formula Large breed adult as concerned puppy food was providing too much protein hence pudding stools, nope went to explosive watery diarrhea.

I finally broke down and spent the money on the Canidae (switch was done after a week on straight white rice and boiled chicken diet to calm his poor little tummy) and walla all is well in Dozer land.... lol.... Not only are his stools normal, I am feeding him less amounts due to the quality of the food, totally worth the extra money. But again every dog, even if the same breed, is totally different and will have different reactions to every type of food out there. Good luck everyone.

California Natural did excellent for my golden retriever who suffered from skin allergies really bad.

I now use Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul - Large Breed Adult and it's great too.

I use Eagle Pack Large & Giant Breed and Junior seems to love it. Though he also loves cat poop, sooo... yeah.

I am currently feeding my puppy Canidae All Life Stages. I use it because it has three different proteins in the ingredients, no by-products or corn and a pile of supplements. She seems to like it so far but I'm taking my time with transition for obvious reasons.

The price here in Canada isn't terrible at all: for a 16 Kilo bag it's $70 and when you buy 10, you get the 11th free.

Was feeding authority large puppy, just swithed to super 5 complex wellness large puppy. The ingredents in it sound amazing enough i think i could eat for breakfast! Will give you an update on how bella does on it :D

Give them healthy & nutritious food. For them, oily stuff is not good. There biscuits are available in market so, give them regularly & milk is also good for them.

Hi, I'm new here and will bring home my new DDB babygirl in a few weeks:) Ive also been comparing food and found Diamond Naturals, large breed puppy food.
Would you suggest this for a pup? I live in a small town in the ozarks and have found it at some farm stores here. Just want the best I can do for her. They have her on Bil-Jac now I think. Thank you for your help

Has anyone fed their pups Nutrisource? They have a grain free line but the ingredient's list lacks calcium and phosphorous levels. Also, everyone refers to Canidae by name, are we referring to Canidae All stages or some other formula?

Which formula of Nutrisource are you looking at? All of Canidae's formulas are all life stages. I like Canidae because although they are currently still made by Diamond they are working on opening their own production facilities.

Yea unfortunately I tried to contact them about the calcium and phosphorus and the lady only would give me the calcium and phopshorus for the nutrisource lamb which was too high for a mastiff puppy. Canidae does have other foods besides the one actually called ALS. As much as I like Canidae all their grain free foods also have levels that are too high for a mastiff puppy.

The Canidae Beef and Fish isn't grain free but would be appropriate for a mastiff pup.
