People always confuse our BMs with EMs, especially Ruby & Bella, fawn & fawn red. It's ok; I view it as an opportunity to do a little educating. There's always that one moron though, who knows more than me. I just walk away. You can't fix stupid.

I get asked if Tess is a Corso sometimes, which really surprises me. It doesn't bother me when people ask, but if they were to argue as to her makeup I probably would get irritated.

I once saw a dog that looked like a Bernese but not quite. I asked if she was a Bernese cross, said she was beautiful. The woman took offense and said no she's a PUREBRED Greater Swiss Mtn Dog. Well excuuuuuuuse me! They're a rare breed around here so no idea why she got so choked. I mean really lady, Bite Me.

Porter gets Shar pei, Boxer, Pitbull and when i say no to each i get, "ya know he kinda looks like that dog from that movie......Hooch"

I now wear this T-shirt when I walk her at the park....LOL I certainly don't mind answering questions people may have, especially when they are truly curious about the breed. What I don't like is when they pass judgement regarding her ears being cut and tail being docked, or when they tell me "she has pitbull in her for sure" I tend to end the conversation at that point.

i also get corse called a pitbull,pit mix, shar pai, boxer mix, i even had someone tell me it has to be a pit because he didnt have enougn wrinkles lol by the way he was 2mons at time

Yer I don't mind informing and teaching people about the breed till they call him a staffy and then tell me that he must be crossed with a staffy, cause they know staffys lol or when they own a staffy and try telling me he looks just like theirs. Thats when I just smile, nod and walk away.

As a lot of others have said, its not b/c people are mistaking the breed really....it's that they assume the worst. If i don't get boxer i almost get "That's a monster pit" or something similar or hear people muttering something about pits and such. For one, Pits are awesome dogs and 2, she looks nothing like a pit in anyway imo. The thing is though the vast majority of people assume any large, muscular dog is a pit automatically and then immediately assume its mean, vicious or something similar....that's where the frustration comes from.

I think the main reason i get annoyed at boxer comments is this, i've never seen a boxer that looks remotely like Greta. They don't look anything alike and while i understand a lot of people don't know all that much about the enormous about of dog breeds out there I just don't see how in the world this mistake can be made. Maybe i'm sensitive i dont know, I never get mean or downright rude i just get a little tired of it some days.

I was sitting in my neighbors back yard with Jagger and her son's lab mix the other day and her pool guy walked in and said, "cool looking St.Bernard" I said, "really? cool where, I wanna see!" "Isn't your dog one?" "Nope my dog is a EM oh well those get just as big I was close"
SERIOUSLY?? How was he even anywhere near close LOL! I don't get mad though I think it's funny and I don't mind setting the record straight. I did however get irritated at a Manager at Petco that argued and argued with me about Jagger. "oh he is just a mastiff not an English mastiff....he is a bull mastiff we have lots of those come in he is about the same size." "Nope he is an English Mastiff, Bull Mastiffs are a little different in type and size" "I have a mastiff cross at home and I am telling you he isn't an English Mastiff. English Mastiffs don't even come in Brindle" JERK! He proceeded to tell me that rawhide was the perfect treat for Jagger "or he will destroy your house" and "you don't really have to switch foods slow I just switch mine whenever I want"....I was talking to a lady I LIKE that works there and was telling her that I had gotten advice on this forum about food and training and what I was looking for.....after I left her side he went over and told her "you need to get her signed up for training here before those forum people tell her to go somewhere else" I HEARD him! Some people I swear....needless to say I called the 800 # on the recpt and reported him. Curious I don't mind....ignorance I can try to fix.....jerk know it all rude syndrome I can't tolerate!

Jager gets Hound, He must be part blood hound cause he has big ears. No he's hound. are you sure he's 100% EM? ... (No I just put a mask on the stud dog to pretend he was EM)! ... Octane? people just flat out ask what he is cause of his marks. He's a marble brindle LOL. It's crazy how "rare" a brindle mastiff is. They look at me with shock and aww. then back to Jager insisting he's part hound. I tell them they have there dogs confused. Octane, now he insists he's part hound on the trampolene HAHAHA. Then when I add in that they are puppies, not even a year old yet that seems to throw them for a doozie and the dog food, mini pony jokes begin.

I don't mind the question either -- I use it as an opportunity to do some public relations for my breed. If I hear someone in our vicinity giving incorrect info to someone else, I will walk right up and say, " Excuse me, but I couldn't help over hearing your telling your friend that my dog is an X. Actually he's a Y." Boris is only 10 weeks, but most people get him right. We had one ask if he were a black lab. (Despite those brindle stripes, lol).

With Dylan, our Harle Great Dane, a lot of people thought he was a huge Dalmatian or a giant Pit Bull. Also got the horse comments.

Omg, I just got this at work and had to come post here. And from pug owners as they're HOLDING their black puppy!! It was hard to maintain my composure, but I managed. I just pointed at their dog and said, "No, you have a pug. This dog is much bigger and is a Bullmastiff." :slapme:

I get Shar Pei occasionally....mostly I just get asked what kind of dog he is.

When they were pups I heard Shar Pei, Golden Retriever, Boxer, and even Pug once.

It doesn't really bother me all that much as DDBs aren't very common where I live.

lol its just drive me nut lol but what can u do ray: i just hope they dont drive me to say something that i wouldnt normally say >>>...::;<<......> at that point im really fight lol its makes me mad ive shown people ICCF papers 4 my puppy n his parents n they me in the eye n say its FAKE well im even willing to get blood work done to show he's fully cc and as soon as people get ready to there mouth ill just show than the paper work stating he's NOT PIT r PIT MIX than they can take there big mouth n going some where n talk trush to someone else lol
