Joao M: I see what your saying with the Fila de Sao Miguel. I invest a lot of time (as you can see I've spent quite a bit on here) with Lady, my wife has a more demanding job and is not as dedicated to the dogs as me. I am currently looking into having real pro come to my home and evaluate the situation.Cinnamon Roll: Please show (in the comments you deleted) where I was "personally attacking" someone. Personally I feel attacked to to the profanity that is being directed at me. all I did was defend my point of view, which is allowed. You don't have to agree with it. I am happy to receive un-bias feed back. My thread was hijacked (which is actually breaking a rule) by people who were being intolerant and looking for a fight. I would like to contact the administrator. How do I do this?Bob Felts: You are out of line. The fact that your are cursing at me shows that, and the level of bias I am dealing with. I have done research and talked with many qualified people who disagree with some of the above posts others have posted. I am entitled to my opinion, and to ask people to keep the thread on topic (which is actually a rule of the forum). I have been more of a gentleman than you and others who have posted on my thread. thank you for your time.EverythingEnglishMastiff: I am not going to respond to any more of your posts. I do not believe any good will come of it. Thank your for the conversation and good luck with your dogs and future dogs.

Assuming you did a lot of research prior to getting Lady....why even choose this breed? Were children planned? I think maybe you didn't think about all of this well enough before getting a breed you and your wife clearly struggle with handling.

I find this comment condescending and to be another attack at me. Please keep your comments on topic. the topic is: spaying and if you have experience with dominant breeds being affected by spaying and how they are around your kids. thanks

Where did I curse at you??? LOL - I didn't use any words that aren't in the Bible as a matter of fact. Good grief!

Well that's fine. I just think it's sad. Nonetheless...I grew up with female dobies which is the only "dominant breed" I've been with day in day out. My sister and I were directly involved in their care...feeding, bathing, walking etc. we never had a problem but spaying did not change any noticeable behavior. you're getting a trainer which is great but it sounds like you're done with her anyway.

You did ask our opinions on what we felt dominant behaviors were, so you effectively hijacked your own post. Not that it matters. I thought your original question had been answered. Spaying will not do anything to stop the behaviors you are having a problem with. I have never seen it make a female more relaxed. A high energy young dog is a high energy young dog. Spaying will take away the risk of pyometra, so after the age of 2-3 I would have her spayed for that reason alone. She may, however, become incontinent. That's pretty common with bitches, but it's also pretty easy to deal with. I have never met any breed that couldn't, theoretically, be fine children. Each dog, however, is different. As I said before - your dog could hit 2 years old, come into her temperament, and not be what you want. There's no way to predict that. Everyone that has replied to this thread wants to help you keep your dog. A little gratitude wouldn't be amiss.

Boxergirl: I am grateful for the relevant information received. However the English lesson was not necessary. You honed in on a word used to describe certain types of dogs and behaviors. This work whether you like it or not is the appropriate word. I'm sorry you feel I am ungrateful. I feel you were looking for an argument. I will now no longer be replying to your posts as I don't see any good coming from it. Have a great day!

Okay, you have asked for help and people are trying to help you. Although you obviously aren't receptive to it.

You're being rude to everybody. Myself included. If you don't like our answers then don't ask

Cinnamon Roll: I am being forced to wonder if I am speaking the same dialect of english as others here due the the fact that I am being very proper. I am saying please and thank you. I am not cursing. I am merely not allowing propaganda to be accepted on my thread.... I am curious about your involvement in this thread. Part of me thinks your friends with one or more of the people I have been going back and forth with. Are you here as a moderator or just commenting on a thread? If you are here as a moderator, please contact me via PM, as I have sent you multiple messages and have not gotten any reply. If you are here as a fellow dog owner wishing to help, please keep your comments on topic, as that is the rule of this forum, so that this situation may end. Thanks for your concern and have a blessed day!

Funny, I thought it was you giving me a lesson when you copied and pasted a definition of a word. I don't recall doing that to you at all. As for being polite and saying please and thank you: You thanked Everything English Mastiff twice on page 2. You facetiously thanked someone - maybe it was Bob Felts - on page 4. That's it. Please? You used it numerous times on page 4 only, but that was in regard to staying on topic/comments/etc. I've spent a good amount of time trying to help you. Not once was I argumentative or rude, nor was I condescending. Not intentionally. If you decide to give Lady up, my offer to help you find a breed rescue in your area still stands. I've been out of the rescue loop for a while, but I still have a contact here and there. All that matters is the safety of the dog and the child. Not some silly disagreement on the meaning of a word.
