I have been trying to wait a full week before checking in on him. I didn't realize that he had actually made contact with your hubby, it all happened so fast. Kato does seem to play off fear, so if D is putting out any sort of unsure vibe I'm sure he can sense it. Jordan never hesitated with Kato. Kato did the same with him, as far as "forgetting" that he was part of the house. For the first week or two he would bark when Jordan entered after being gone all day. Jordan just told him to knock it off and walked on past. I was surprised that he handled himself so well. At his age I think I would have been intimidated by a dog that size barking at me! I had really hoped that he would settle in more quickly/easily. He always took correction well but did seem particularly protective of me and the family. That seemed to ease after he settled in. He does seem to take cues from the other dogs. Jax helped him overcome a lot of fears at my house. Maybe if he bonds well with Lily she can teach him a few things. Kato did well with a lot of Jordan's friends. He seemed to be more unsure of the hyperactive/unpredictable ones.
I don't recall him ever growling to get my attention. He would grumble or growl during play but not often. I really hope he can make this work! He needs to realize how lucky he is to have you and your family!! If you need anything, give me a call.
