Hector and a bad back

Doggie Chiropractor? Accupuncture? I've heard both work when meds fail. Agree with whoever commented nerve pain is bad and usually pain medication doesn't help, just makes loopy. Consider chiro or accupuncture, but not sure how you get him to one.

heh, we call it "peeping" when Arty does it lol

It's like nails on a chalkboard after an hour.

The dog chiros are at least 1 hr away. If I must, I will take him to my regular vet to get them to use that spine hammering tool on him, but he seems to be doing much better today!

oh no! so sorry you guys are going thru this. many prayers for you guys

Thank you, need all of it.

How is Hector today ?

He's doing much better today. He gets up to go potty on his own. Still some pain going up and down stairs to go potty. He is moving around more on his own, but still a bit unstable.

I think the chirping would drive me crazy. lol How is he today? Hope you both got some rest last night.

I slept on the couch last night and this is what I'm going to have to do for awhile. I reduced the amount of drugs as I'm thinking he was being overdosed rather than under. No more "peeping" due to reduction in drugs. He got up to get me a squeaky toy! This boy needs to stay still and go to sleep!

Glad to see he is doing better! These meds can really drive a pup crazy. I just figured out that even Benedryl makes my girl a witch! Completely deaf and aggressive. Back to my sweetie pie now. My old boy had good results with laser treatments for hip pain, and acupuncture/chiro is always a good avenue!

Thanks! I will look into that in the future if needed.

That looks more like stress crying rather than pain. Remember a couple months back Dozer got real sick? Well he was in pain but he would do that same sort of crying AFTER I gave him the Ultram and Prednisone. It lasted a couple days then he stopped. I think it is distress or fear and anxiety that the are whimpering about.

Hope he gets better soon.

Thanks. He was doing that after he got his shots and came home all high. Definitely he was still in pain as he was chirping, but also did the same screams when he moved positions like before he went to the vet. I tried to comfort him, but he just couldn't help himself and was definitely stressed out. He was like that for a couple of days like you said and now he's okay taking all of his medication. Vet said not to reduce his meds.....so he's high all day and night for 7 days lol.

Meds...no problems here...even if it's 2x a day.

2 muscle relaxer
3 prednisone
1 gabapentin
2 tramadol

Please keep an eye on his stomach with all those oral meds, any vomiting would be an emergency .one of mine died from a perforated ulcer when on Tramadol and muscle relaxers for only five days, I kept telling the Vet something was wrong with his stomach ,he died at the Vet. Something to keep an eye on

I am very sorry about your dog. That sucks big time. What was he on those meds for? Yeah I was very worried with all those meds knowing how flimsy his stomach is. However, he is doing very well. No vomiting or diarrhea. 3 more days of pain meds and then just muscle relaxer and a month of prednisone. Then I will take him in for xrays as I need to know if his back is crooked or what.
