Gunny
Well-Known Member
We had contacted the local Great Dane rescue a few weeks ago and hadn't heard back until yesterday. One of the ladies called and set up a home evaluation for this Saturday, and then we receive an email saying that they contacted our vet and learned that Gunny wasn't neutered (he's 11 months). They said that the vet told them they recommend neutering at 4-6 months and that since Gunny wasn't neutered, we could not adopt one of their dogs. Apparently it's a policy of theirs that all dogs in the home be spayed/neutered. Needless to say I had to calm my wife down before she called and let loose on them about not knowing what's best for Mastiffs. It's a shame that we won't be able to give one of their GD's a good home because we're not willing to put our dog at a higher risk of having problems in the future.
Unfortunately, I don't suffer fools, or stupid no tolerance policies well, so I won't be looking to rescue again.
