Soon to be Fila Owners

Hello all. My wife and I have placed a deposit months ago on a Fila Brasileiro, from Eshabeta Kennel, http://www.filadog.com

We are looking forward to receiving our puppy here at the end of July. We have owned many dogs before, including Presa Canario, and American Pit Bull Terriers.

We looked into owning a Fila for years, before we made the decision to go with this dog. We hope to be able to learn a lot from everyone here, and hope to be able to contribute some of our knowledge as well.

Hope to talk to all of you soon.

Welcome! Search under fila and you will find a lot of info.

I have been poking around some, and we are always finding more information. We thought spending years researching the breed, before we placed a deposit on one would have shown us everything, but we are constantly learning day to day still.

Both of your dogs look very nice as well. Are they Fila's?

Yes, they are both filas. Cane, the male in the first picture has some Eshabeta in him. Ziva in the second pic is a rescue and not sure of her lines,

Welcome.

Would like to know what it was that drew you to the breed and made you decide on it?

Cane is a good looking dog. We spent lots of time looking at many different breeders. Dawna from Eshabeta was so knowledgeable about the breed, and talked to us for hours about the dogs, that we felt super comfortable choosing to buy our puppy from her. The fact she also runs a Fila Rescue, says a lot about her as well.

Welcome.

We were looking for a breed that was known for it's protection qualities. We looked at several breeds, like GSD's, Akita, etc.... Most of the long hair dogs, we removed from our list, as we just aren't fans of the long hair breeds.

We chose the Fila, because of it's protection qualities, size (we love bigger dogs), and it's endearing quality towards family. We plan on having children at some point, and wanted a dog that would be accepting of the children, and become "best friends" with the children.

Nice looking dog in your Avatar there. That face is classic.

Thank you, she is an English Bullmastiff mix. One parent full EM and one half EM / half BM. I love her totally. Rescued her from an abusive home. My next will be a CC from a good breeder, my first. I've rescued and had strays move in all my life so excited about my new puppy.

I like that your breeder is involved in rescue, that is very attractive in a breeder.

We rescued our Amrican Pitbull Terrier, so I know what you mean with owning rescues. Seems it would be hard to find a good reputable CC breeder. I see a lot of them going to the ways of the APBT Breeders, which is sad.

Welcome welcome from another fila owner!!
