  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

How Did You Choose That Name?

Named my Mastiff Bane. I had so many other names picked out before I ever met him. I was working out of state and a buddy of mine brought him 800miles to me. As soon as I seen Bane hit me. Bane just fit so well. He was such a big burly pup looked like he could pull my trailer home. Bane of course is one of Batman's arch nemesis.

If and when I get my female I plan on naming her Ivy :)

Well, we actually just decided to get brother and sister but they were just born their names will be Jagger and Joplin. We like old rock Jaggers name took awhile to decide Joplin was a bit easier to pick. Any fans of old rock will know who Jagger and Joplin are lol. OR if you have any good female old rock names I'd love to hear them I can't decide if I completely like having to J names.

(also for the people it may concern Joplin(?) and Jagger will be getting fixed because theres always that person)

We were able to choose our pup's name for his papers, so we named him after the Spartan King, so "Ghostgum Leonidas" is his name. When we met him he reminded us of Otis the pug from the movie "Milo and Otis" so his kennel name is Ottis

We love Muscle cars, Harley's, and big 4x4's and have a few so we thought it would be fitting to go with...Midknight's American Muscle for his registered name and we call him "Diesel"...

So I have a question with the registered name thing. They always seem to be just a grouping of random names and include the name of the kennel. Is there a rhyme or reason to the names chosen or any guidelines that need to be followed in choosing them? I am going to need to think of a registered name fairly soon and have no idea where to start with it.

That is a question you will want to talk to your breeder about as some breeders choose a theme to follow, others may choose a letter of the alphabet, and there is a limit to the number of letters and spaces in Canada with the CKC that you can have...I believe it is 30 and I'm not sure if there is a limit in the United States with the AKC or not...we try and relate the show name and call name as best we can...song titles, musicals and movies are excellent places to start... we have also used fragrances and fancy cocktails...it's actually a lot of fun when you start...

Kids. All of the animals in the house were named by the kids except one.

Petey: We asked our oldest what he wanted to name his dog. He was two but he said very confidently Apoko Pete. Have no idea where it came from as we didn't know anyone named Pete or Peter so we put the name down on his CKC and it was approved. Pete became Petey.

Daisy: My youngest named her Daisy since she is a coown with him. Daisy is my dog as well as his (although she is a family pet). Her registered name is You're a Daisy if you Do.

Rascal: Have no idea how this came to be but my oldest named her as Rascal is his dog.

Charlie: I think the kids got that name from the puppy place books as they both said Charlie at the exact same time when we picked up the little orange cat.

Lobo: I have no idea but I suspect it was the comic book. 14 year old cat that my husband named.

Rayquaza: My son's bearded dragon. He was named after a Pokemon during his Pokemon stage.

Rogue- my boys are big into superheros and the name fit for her

Bruce- Same theory, must stick with the superhero names. This time it is a much better fit as he is a big boy!!! I wanted to name him bruce after Bruce Banner(the hulk....VERY FITTING LOL) my husband and boys wanted to name him bruce after Bruce Wayne(batman). Not sure why they want to name him after batman but either way we love the name for him and that is what we all agreed on.

Porter, from the movie Payback. The lead character and the English Mastiff were both named Porter and i really liked it, plus it's French so it fit him being a DDB

Gus is short for Gustav. Named after Gustav Stickley the furniture designer. Our last dog was named Sam after Sam Maloof another furniture designer. I do not think the dogs know of their namesakes but I could be mistaken.

I named my DDB Beaux Jaxson :)

I had an obsession w/ Bo Jackson as a child (continues today), and I am a French Frog so i just altered the spelling slightly towards the Bordeaux and ended up w/ Beaux Jaxson.

Go figure as he has found my fav' pair of sneakers ( vintage Bo Jackson's in the Oakland Raiders colors, NBD buddy just eat them not like they are hard to come by or anyhting).

After spending a lifetime of keeping and breeding rottweilers, this DDB pup was the biggest i'd ever seen (since we don't have alot of ddb's where am at) so named him Biggie and since he's a Bordeaux. It worked out to be Biggie De Bordeaux. By the time i got the female twilight saga fever was all over the planet and i needed a name which rhymed with Biggie or atleast started with a "B" hence Bella De Bordeaux ;)

Lets see. 1st one was Maggie. Name was there when we got her, ( English Mastiff) and she was already 7 yrs old. Al Capone was our other English, and he was a tough one. LOL
Stella, the Fila, as she was tough but pretty and sweet with the family. Yogi was the Newfie, named after the bear. Princess Raven was the other Newfie, a Diva but stubborn.
Shotzy is a Cane Corso akita mix, and we originally named her Shentzy after the hyena in Lion King ( her coat was like a hyenas when we first rescued her) and the kids kept calling her shotzy. Carly was named already ( mini bulldog), Deisel is our Bull Mastiff, he was already named. I prefer original names and unique names for animals. We rescued a blind mastiff puppy and named her Keena. Had a wolf pup named Talla ( means wolf in Lakota) and a white english Bulldog named Ahote ( talks too much in Lakota). I have so many names of so many animals we rescued, LOL. I usually look up American Indian names and meanings that fit the personality of the dog.

We named our Corso Titus Pullo because:
We wanted a good Roman name
He will probably be a very big boy
Translates loosely as "honorable young beast"
