How Did You Choose That Name?

Branka means Glorious protector or guardian, I thought it was cool :) She was almost named Kevin by my 3 year old though lol.

My Doberman Lucius is after the Roman Emperor.

And my Beagle/Basset my husband named PJ for Pearl Jam, his favorite band.

I'm not real sure where the name came from, but I had the name picked out a long time before I got Norm. I also have the name picked out for our female bullmastiff when we can get her. Gemma, from the Sons of Anarchy tv show. I think that would be a great name for a big female bullmastiff. :)

Ripley was named Patsy from her previous owner. Patsy really didn't seem to fit her at all. So, we named her Ripley after the lead character in the Alien movies. She's one tough chick and that fits Ripley perfectly!

We had several names picked out for our Dane, with Hudson and Murphy being top choices. Choose Murphy after we finally got him home. Hudson seemed like a too sophisticated name for a boy that was such a clown. Still love the name Hudson, so it will be on the top of the list for our next Dane.

Willie came with his name and suited him well, so we actually built his "papered" name around that, literature we both like, and the fact that he scooted quite a bit when he was little-- "Scootin Will Scarlet"

Ruger...I was not near as creative as the posts I am reading but I am an avid shooter and a gun enthusiast. I have a concealed weapon permit and I carry a gun everyday (everywhere I go except for those places that I absolutely am not aloud). My favorite gun (Ruger P345) is what I carry and it is smooth, easy, makes me feel safe and I love when I get the chance to "play" with it. The name is fitting of my Ruger who I also, almost never, leave home without as he goes to work with me everyday and my truck (with the air conditioner running) seems to be one of his favorite places to be if he can't be in my office or asleep in my bed!! LOL

When I saw the movie "The Matrix" there were two characters (brothers) called Bull and Dozer. I really liked the name Dozer. I figured, one day when I got a really big dog, I would call him Dozer. When I got my mastiff, he was 8 months old. His previous owner didn't tell me his name. I was so excited to bring him home I forgot to ask. So, I started calling him dozer. It is so fitting too. Whenever he sees a puddle of water, he dozes right through it with his head down and his mouth open. He does this in snow too. I need to get some pictures. I could not have picked a better name for him.

Duramax Jack - my 3 yr old daughter learned the term Duramax by taking an interest in daddy's truck. It is a diesel motor. But she would tell her friends she has a Duramax and growl like Tim the tool man taylor. When we picked him out his grandpas name was Diesel, and MANY people use that name. When my daughter heard diesel she looked at me and said, "like my truck dad?". So Duramax was chosen, my sister calls me Jack....... Not my name nor anyone we know, but it stuck. So wife added Jack so his "proper paper name" would be unique. We love the story, and the other kids in her class know what a diesel is.

Kryten - I wanted something that would fit what I have been told will likely be an EM weighing over 200lbs when full grown but isn't a standard name for a large dog

Jiggers - is something that I came up with after finding my Irish Setter X online

Creasy is the main character from "Man on Fire"
His nickname though is Big Worm which is from "Friday" so he ends up being called Worm or Big Worm a lot and sometimes even melon or melon head lol.

When we got Camo (Neo) his name was Tango. To me that's a dance & there isn't anything graceful about this boy!! My boyfriend is ex military & loves all things camo,,so Camo it is! We also have a mini doxy named Kewe, short for Key West which is where we got her.
Then there's Tico (Chiuhuhua) which is what a native Costa Rican is called. (Boyfriend is Costa Rican)
And Leya (Chi also) She's Leya from Hialeah (where we got her)
Little Bit (Chi also) was already named when we adopted him at 3 yrs old.
Ug is a maltese/papillon mix I adopted from my vet's office. His staff called him Ugly but he's my Uggy Wuggy baby!
