Yes ruger it is n this what im saying if this is the furture for EM i dont want it, also just because a EM doesnt weight close to 300lbs n have the a melting look r doesnt a 38in head r 50in chest doesnt it isn't massive, i like to c muscle(clearly),i like form(not melting),i p like to c movement (not struggling r stumbling r suffering) n i like spunk (not lazy or weak or get tired so easily)

I agree. Like I said, Rugers dad was 260 pounds but he was absolutely beautiful. Just the right amount of skin, very muscled and still had a "waist". I need to weigh Ruger but I would guess him to be right at 200 pounds right now and he is still trim and not finished filling out. He may have come from what is considered a BYB but he is amazing and I can't wait until he fills out completely. :)

this dog clearly is most likely pregnant. The nipples even look enlarged...

No, she isn't pregnant. Those nipples are pretty standard for a bitch that has been bred.

Different mastiff breed but I know for sure which photo she is pregnant in and not pregnant in, which is why I used it:

this is funny how all this brought up because I saw a website that was actually claiming to have their puppies from grandfather of zorba or something like that and their dogs were 250 to around 330lbs like their glorifying obesity because of there size and that definitely got me angry n sad and don't get me wrong I love large sized dogs but not at the cost of their health

She couldn't have been very far past the pregnancy in that pic, but you are correct about the nipple size.

Gzazefull - The female you posted looks a lot older than a "year or so" most of the pictures where the EM exhibits excessive type are more mature dogs. My male is just over a year and he's going to the same thing, it's added a lot more character to his appearance, and it aligns with the old standard image of the EM. He has a a lot tighter coat from the base of his neck thru his body at this point however. Regardless of what people tell you, people purchase EM's for size.. everyone wants the huge puppy dog.. most are content with a healthy big dog but again size is everything in the eyes of people that aren't breeding to achieve the standard.

I think she was just over the half way mark in that picture. That was the litter with 13 puppies in her so she was big. I really don't think the one dog was pregnant though. Generally, breeders like to put up pictures of their dogs when they are looking their best...pregnancy takes a lot out of a dog and you don't want to use that as your selling picture. For one, it doesn't reflect the real dog at all and for two, the bitches are so tired.

You have to look at each breeder individual. There are breeders breeding for size and that affects the overall lifespan and health of the dog. There are also breeders who are looking at health and stability before size. If they get a large dog and he has the health and stability they are looking for, then that is perfect. If not, they look at where they went wrong and change their breeding. From what I can see, rockport is not looking at what they are doing wrong, simply breeding for size regardless of anything else. That is the reason why I would avoid them.

She's got a huge head, that's a good thing.. she's got a little to much type going on for my taste but as they age it develops more.

You'd be surprised at how the big EM's can move (if your not trying to drag them around by the neck with a choker).. they aren't labs by any stretch of the imagination and they aren't going to run half marathons with you.. but hold up a chicken leg and they'll move pretty quick to get it :)

n they brag about her head well i cant tell if its just all skin folded over her head

I think a lot of what your seeing in that pic is the way she has her head turned therefor its a lot more pronounced.

You see a lot of heavier "typed" (AKA wrinkles) EM's in the imports & larger/mature EMs. Not everyone likes that look but it's more true to the original form of the EM.

The benefit to tighter skin around the face/jowl area is less drool, our male is not a big drooler'.. however the young female we have is the opposite.. looser skin around the jowl area etc. She is also growing faster than our male was so we'll see how she turns out.
